Andre Mills fought back tears after Maryland basketball’s season-ending loss in March. Seven months later, his message is simple:

“It’s personal… I want to be the best team in the conference,” he told me.

The first verse of Jay-Z’s “Public Service Announcement” blared through the Xfinity Center on Sunday.

“Allow me to reintroduce myself.”

Fresh off Maryland basketball’s worst season since 1941, those five words were a mantra for maturation.

Josh Chambers, who was Maryland basketball’s “Director of Process” last season, has a new title.

He’s now “Chief of Staff.”

Chambers said coach Buzz Williams made the announcement yesterday during an impromptu team film session.

Buzz Williams has a new system on meals:

"Don't eat anything until three hours after you wake up [and] three hours before you go to bed — those are non-negotiable... Then one day a week, I fast."

Added: "So I haven't had anything to eat yet today."

Buzz Williams on 5-star freshman Baba Oladotun:

“What I’m most impressed with Baba is his mom and dad. They scarred my heart in such a meaningful way.”

Added: “When you go in their home, there is a distinct ambiance of how that mother & father are as husband & wife.”

Buzz Williams on Maryland basketball's preseason exhibition schedule:

"I like the timing of how our staff schedule these. [We] played on a Sunday against Georgia Tech. Monday is Sabbath. Now what do we do on Tuesday, Wednesday? What are we doing Thursday, Friday?"

Buzz Williams’ loaded answer on building Maryland basketball’s roster:

“This is sincere, not condescending… If I don’t like you, no matter how talented you are, you won’t be a good player.”

Added: “The best attribute of the players on our team is that I really like them.”

Buzz Williams on coaching in today's college basketball landscape:

"We want to be the 2001-02 Maryland Terps [national championship team]... but it's 2026, which is a completely different era and the game's played differently."

Maryland basketball’s retro uniforms are back.

The Terps, who wore these during their 2002 run, are sporting the throwbacks this season to honor the 25th anniversary of that national title team.

They’ll wear them vs Bucknell (11/2), Illinois (1/16) and Indiana (1/12).

Last season, Maryland MBB scored 85+ points in just 1 of its 24 games against Power Four opponents.

The 2026-27 Terps scored 85+ in both of their two October exhibitions against a Big 12 and an ACC team.

How much better will they be this season? That’s a good indication.

Andre Mills after Maryland's 90-81 exhibition win over West Virginia — in a game the Terps trailed by 15 at halftime of.

"This is the first time I've been out of halftime getting my butt kicked and [coach Buzz Williams] not yelling. So that was a little new for me."
