@Stuhendo96 @rockdadmedia @goonie4life@HeyHeyItsConrad@UniqueID17 Totally right. The Rock is a bigger draw and will do wonders as the main event of WrestleMania.
If only WrestleMania could be main evented by a match that isn't for the world title.
I don’t understand how this is lost on so many people. For two years, the story has been about Cody winning the title. It wasn’t about beating Roman, it was about winning the belt his father never did. WWE’s own video game this year is centered around Cody “finishing the story” and it being 40 Years of WrestleMania. Those promos aired less than two weeks ago. Several weeks ago Rock cut a promo about “head of the table,” not the championship. Cody’s story is about the title. Rock’s story is about the Bloodline. We could have had both at Mania. Now we don’t and it sucks. Make Cody winning the Rumble and being the basis of this “finish the story” campaign for the video game make sense for me now. I’m asking. Rock being back is huge! But he doesn’t need a title match for that story to be great. And what does it tell the kids who buys the Cody merch and play the video game? Give us both. Cody getting the Daniel Bryan treatment at 30 is what’s best for the long term success of WWE, their live events, and their merch business. If he wasnt, he wouldn’t be on the cover of the game and the campaign be entirely based around his storyline to the point AI Austin and AI Hogan talk about finishing their stories. Rock doing PR globally for this event can still happen and make it even bigger without it being for the title. But we could have had both, now we don’t, and nobody can explain why. Why did Cody win the Rumble and not Rock? Make it make sense. I’m begging you. Kudos to the Rock and WWE, it will be a huge night. “And then what?”
@KennyMcITR I think we need to get over this "double duty at night 1 and night 2" as they are always rubbish ideas.
They also bring up a different problem in that it takes a spot away from others, especially as it would take away a main event from either Seth or the women's title match.
@HeatsblzrKJ@realbatdad@WrestleOps@WWE Also with leaving it another year, we've seen this tale a thousand times, putting off pushes for Mr Kennedy, Ziggler until the fans have lost interest and they never get back to it. Kofi had to wait 11 years before they gave him 1 reign that was never a focus and ended poorly
@HeatsblzrKJ@realbatdad@WrestleOps@WWE Can you imagine if Stone Cold gave up his WM14 title shot to Hogan and instead decided he'd challenge for the IC title under the premise "I'll just start the Austin era next WM" thats whats happening to Cody. The WHC is a secondary belt and doesn't mean as much to win for Cody
@ValParfenoff@ProWFinesse And what a nice 2nd place, B+ spot he has earned himself. We can't deny, the rock worked "really" hard to main event wrestlemania
@jconnerty17@ValParfenoff@ProWFinesse Unless you are saying Cody beats Roman at summerslam 2025. And who knows, maybe Triple H fancies coming out of retirement by then at 56 and politely advising Cody to let him challenge Roman for the belt instead.
@LuisGon43193105@TylerL349@WWE@TheRock Austins main event didn't take a title match away from a current face of the company
Rocks star power is big, so big that this 100% didn't need the title on the line. WM40 is gonna sell regardless and Rock/Roman would help any other show draw massively just for the bloodline
@SeanRossSapp This is the same shit they tried to pull at WM30, having Batista come back, immediately insert himself into the main event and challenge someone he has an association with. Only difference is they have booked Cody to be ok with the from the get go so there's no pushback from fans
@SeanRossSapp A nice way of reminding people that 1 of the current faces of the company is way less important than a 51 year old actor whos last "match" was 8 years ago and last real one was 11, all for nostalgia pop.
Even if rock wins, he either drops it straight away or will never defend it.
