It is time to set the record straight and look at the facts. Anyone claiming that Israel lives on US handouts, or that it could not exist without American money, completely misunderstands geopolitics and modern economics.

As former US Secretary of State and Four-Star General Alexander Haig famously stated, "Israel is the largest American aircraft carrier in the world. It cannot be sunk, it carries zero American soldiers, and it protects critical US interests."

The partnership between the two nations is not charity. It is one of the most profitable strategic investments the United States has ever made for several key reasons.

* An Immediate Return for American Workers: The $3.8 billion in annual military assistance is not a blank check. It comes in the form of vouchers that must be spent right back inside the United States. This funding directly supports tens of thousands of high-paying jobs for American workers in the domestic defense industry.

* The Alternative Would Create a Fierce US Competitor: If the United States did not require this money to be spent on American equipment, Israel would funnel its massive budgets into expanding its own fully independent defense industries, just as it did historically with the Merkava tank after foreign embargoes. As a result, Israeli defense companies would actively compete against American exports on the global market, cutting into billions of dollars of US business.

* Israeli Companies Create American Jobs: Israeli companies listed on Wall Street, including companies like Elbit, Teva, Check Point, and Mobileye, have a combined market value of $300 billion to $350 billion. These corporations invest billions of dollars directly into the US economy, purchasing local businesses and building facilities that support American families.

* Zero American Casualties: Unlike other global hotspots where the United States is forced to deploy troops, Israel fights its own battles. This alliance saves the US military from massive ground deployments in the Middle East, protecting American lives.

* Intelligence Worth Five CIAs: Former US Air Force Intelligence Chief General George Keegan once estimated that the intelligence, tech collaboration, and battle-tested data Israel shares with the United States are worth more than five CIA agencies combined.

The United States is not keeping Israel on life support. Israel is a tech powerhouse, an economic driver, and America's most cost-effective strategic asset. This is a mutually beneficial partnership built on shared strength.
