He just wrote me a message last month to ask for support for the camp he lives in.

Meet Michelle Haslem, the most senior British spy you have probably never heard of. She is Director General of the Homeland Security Group in the Home Office.

The photo below - from March this year - is the first published image of her in a quarter of a century. How so?

She grew up in Birkenhead - which at one point was the town in Britain with the largest proportion of Irish born residents - to parents of Irish origin. A Catholic Grammar-school girl, she went to University in Nottingham and then did a Phd in English Literature at Liverpool.

She joined MI6 in 1998 even before she submitted her thesis in August 1999.

And then - for more than 20 years - she was gone. Not a trace on the public record in the UK.

She was deep undercover engaged in all sorts of derring-do for MI6 including in Counter-Terrorism and in South East Asia and the 'Middle East'.

Then her name started to be mentioned in official British government notices. She was according to these, just a diplomat. But if you track the exact roles she was said to have been in, her covert role becomes obvious. The tentative steps into the light were a mechanism so that in due time she could be appointed to one of the top ten spy jobs in Britain.

Today she is personally in charge of persecuting Muslims by bine in charge of the Prevent strategy. She is also one of the key stat operatives responsible for advancing the state threats agenda which has most recently resulted in the proposed designation of the IRGC.

Normally the spooks in the background remain there. But today I publish the first part of a two part investigation revealing where she came from, what she did and where she is now.

Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya to his lawyers: "Do everything possible to get me out of this place."

During another visit at the underground Rakefet detention facility, he reported that he had once again been beaten by prison guards following his previous visit and has since been held alone in solitary confinement. He said his finger was injured and that he was also suffering from a problem with his right eye, yet he was not receiving adequate medical care.

The visit took place under conditions that did not allow for confidential communication: behind an opaque partition, via telephone, while masked prison guards remained within earshot.

Dr. Abu Safiya, Director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, has been detained since December 2024 without charge or trial, along with 13 other doctors and dozens of healthcare workers. Despite repeated reports of violence and the denial of adequate medical care, the Israel Prison Service has yet to provide his medical records or allow an independent physician from PHRI to examine him.

We call for Dr. Abu Safiya's immediate release, for his removal from solitary confinement and from the underground detention facility pending his release, to be granted an independent and impartial medical and legal examination, and to receive adequate medical care while his safety and well-being are ensured.

As a student was on the way OUT of graduation she was physically assaulted and had the Palestinian flag ripped out of her hands with such violence it ripped her acrylic nails off.

Headlines will never be the same again.

Dale Vince’s landmark victory over the @DailyMail.

A landmark victory has been handed down by the the Court of Appeal with three of the country’s more senior judges (Wednesday 15 July) following a three-year legal battle between Green Entrepreneur Dale Vince and the Daily Mail. This new ruling will protect people from misleading media articles by establishing a new duty of fairness.

Dale Vince has won his legal battle, against Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL), publisher of the Daily Mail and Mail+, over a June 2023 article headlined "Labour repays £100,000 to 'sex harassment' donor". The article reported on the Labour Party returning donations from Davide Serra, who was the subject of an employment tribunal finding for sexual harassment.

However, the article prominently featured not one but two pictures of Vince, one highlighted - holding a Just Stop Oil banner. Vince argued that this clearly led readers to believe he was the subject of the misconduct allegations.

Lawyers acting for Mr Vince used GDPR legislation to argue that the Daily Mail had mistreated the Labour donor and green industrialist by unfairly processing his personal information.

The Daily Mail now faces substantial costs and damages.

Dale Vince OBE said: “It sounds grand, because it is - headlines won’t be the same again after this ruling. Not just headlines but articles too.

Three years ago the Mail ran a highly misleading headline, using pictures of me in a headline not about me. It was a damaging reputational attack. The Daily Mail thought they could get away with it because they were protected by a libel law that was so old, it almost predated the internet.  

They were wrong.

The fallacy at the heart of libel law is the assumption that people read both headlines and articles in full. We all know this is not true; we all scan headlines and think we know what the story is. But that element of libel law has stood for over three decades, while the internet grew, social media came into the world, and our attention spans famously shrank. Libel Law in our country is not fit for purpose. It needs updating for the modern era.

That’s not a fight I intend to pursue.

This landmark ruling, based on legislation and assumptions of behaviour from this century will change media behaviour in Britain - starting now.  And it is likely to have the same effect in Europe, as GDPR legislation is European wide. Huge credit goes to my lawyers, Brett Wilson - for this.

Not everybody has the will and the resources to fight powerful media groups like the Daily Mail. Many people facing similar injustices simply have to live with it, grin and bear it. Not anymore, the biggest outcome of this three year battle, for me, is that nobody now will face that same treatment and have no affordable recourse.

From today newspaper headlines will never be the same again - because media outlets have a new duty of fairness and we the people have a new means to enforce it. Something so many of our media outlets fail to do voluntarily to their great shame - is now not a choice. The Daily Mail faces substantial costs and damages, but worse than that for them is this new duty of fairness - that appears to throw their current business model out of the window."
