Now seems like a great time to announce that I recently joined the Department of Epidemiology @EmoryEPI! Thrilled to see so many @EmoryRollins new colleagues winning awards at #SER2023.
Our new paper on in utero HIV-exposure and cardiometabolic health in South African children in the Drakenstein Child Health Study came out in @AIDS_Journal today! Open access available here: https://t.co/CruWdlIdav
We are excited to share our first Faculty Spotlight Video featuring Dr. Angie Bengtson! Each video will highlight an educator here in our department and the vital research they are doing. @BengtsonAngie
Thrilled to see our paper out @LancetGH leveraging data from The Tsepamo Study @AidsHarvard. We answer real-world questions about the effectiveness of #MMS in pregnancy, adding additional evidence that multivitamins may improve birth outcomes. @UPennDBEI

@BillMiller_Epi 3) Finally, a solid, good grant is not the same thing as a perfect grant. Even the best ones will have weaknesses. That's okay, if you acknowledge & address them if possible & it still moves the field forward meaningfully (this was a big one for me!)
@BillMiller_Epi 2) That said, good writing does not trump great science. The idea has to be sound and there can't be major holes in it. If I got to through the significance and wasn't convinced this would move the field forward, it didn't matter how good the approach was
@BillMiller_Epi My key take-aways were 1) everyone has their own style, but your writing has to be clear. If I can't understand what you're doing (even if it's brilliant) it will not score well
@BillMiller_Epi I was invited as part of @NIH's early career reviewer program, which is a great way to get experience for early career folks: https://t.co/wc3OI9K8FR
Doctoral candidate @RachelYorlets writes about why epidemiology is political and how we can tackle this pandemic in the @BostonGlobe today.
