[Ben Howard @Benhoward12]

@Alex_Berwick Has Elliott even been in squad training photos etc?

[Ben Howard @Benhoward12]

@umirf1 Would have been great next to Watkins in this sort of role 😞

[John Percy @JPercyTelegraph]

Unai Emery is an elite manager. To have #avfc in this position and on this run of results is remarkable after a difficult summer restricted by PSR/SCR. Emery will dismiss talk of the title but getting into the Champions League next year will be his finest Villa achievement yet

[Ben Howard @Benhoward12]

@theavfcfaithful They just shouldn’t be starting games for us

[Ben Howard @Benhoward12]

@danbardell Would argue that the previous signings and poor use of limited resources the previous 2 windows have also had a very negative impact. Monchi was hated at Roma and yes he’s had tough circumstances but overall been poor

[Ben Howard @Benhoward12]

@Mooley22 @TalkinTactics 👏 And Malen. The January window was clouded by Rashford and Asensio (who were both on ridiculous wages anyway). The recruitment has been poor the last few years, a welcome change

[Ben Howard @Benhoward12]

@martinlaurence7 @Alex_Berwick Has Emery ever used a 3 man midfield ?

[Ben Howard @Benhoward12]

@Alex_Berwick He talked about getting the identity back today, but what even is the identity, not really had one since the first 18 months

[Ben Howard @Benhoward12]

@TalkinTactics Couldn’t agree more, Monchi etc will blame PSR and financial restrictions but some of the decisions and finances involved in previous windows have been a disaster. Combined with Emery dropping Watkins for Rashford and sticking with narrow uninspiring tactics, it’s not good

[Ben Howard @Benhoward12]

@BenWooly84 @J_Tanswell They all played on the same lines, no width even with the changed line up. Wasn’t good

[Ben Howard @Benhoward12]

@danbardell Agree the rules are limiting us, but it’s not the only factor here. The club know the rules and have not dealt with them on a short term basis putting us in this position. Some of the deals such as Malen / Disasi we have done in the past 6 months have been poor.

[Ben Howard @Benhoward12]

@Alex_Berwick With all the PSR and financial concerns I’m slightly surprised by this business, he won’t exactly have a resale value at 28

[Ben Howard @Benhoward12]

@AVFCchats He was awful and we spent £5m on him

[Ben Howard @Benhoward12]

@lukerobinson89 Just the complete total opposite of what we need

[Ben Howard @Benhoward12]

@FPLVillan Just a poor signing with our financial restrictions if he’s not going to play, some of the business in Jan was so poor considering the fees paid

[Ben Howard @Benhoward12]

@TalkinTactics 🤢

[Matt Law @Matt_Law_DT]

Aston Villa explore viability of a move for Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson - but it would not involve selling Ollie Watkins and financial restrictions means it's complicated #avfc #cfc

@Alex_Berwick This window might feel a little disappointing for some, but longer term signing more potentially lower cost players as Jacob mentions can only benefit the club. Much prefer that to what we did under Gerrard for example, the wages are unsustainable with our level of income
