I have submitted requests to @MTL_Ville for 2 locations, and tomorrow will suggest a third one. Meanwhile, to stay busy, I went back to the list of possible locations and wondered if the following was a crazy idea or worth exploring?

Montreal already built the Palais des Congrès over the Ville-Marie Expressway to help reconnect downtown and Old Montreal.

So here's a question we've been kicking around for the #PeanutProject:

Could a new @Montreal_Expos ballpark + 4C district help complete that reconnection by building over another section of the Ville-Marie?

The area I've outlined is roughly 11.4 acres, immediately beside Champ-de-Mars, Old Montreal and downtown, with Metro access already there.

I have no idea yet whether the engineering, land ownership, heritage constraints or economics make this remotely feasible. That's the point of this post (it's 8pm, I'll email the many architecture firms manana)... but... why not ask any engineers, urban planners, architects, residents: what am I missing?

If the answer is “this is impossible,” tell me why. If it's technically possible, this could be a fascinating site to study.

So these images are
- The one with the Sphere is from my first article outlining 10+ locations.
Now, I created two more,
- one where the ballpark is next to the Ville Marie highway (don't think that works, space wise)
- another where the ballpark is on top of the Ville Marie highway, the way Palais des Congres is. So THIS is what I am inquiring about.

And yes, tomorrow, I will email the city as well as inquire with my cast of experts... but... thoughts?

Am I insane, or could this work?

Après les révélations du New York Times, où deux sources américaines avançaient que nos voisins du Sud étaient flexibles dans leurs demandes concernant la langue française et que le Canada avait accepté de plier sur la protection du contenu culturel, ce sont maintenant des sources canadiennes qui confirment ces révélations dans le journal The Gazette.

On nous apprend que les règles sur l’affichage des produits en français n’étaient pas au centre des négociations.

Ce narratif selon lequel le gouvernement fédéral a quitté la table pour protéger le Québec, qu’on nous sert juste avant le lancement d’une campagne électorale, semble tout simplement faux.

Édifiant.
