Wrapped up a brilliant week at #ISHPSSB2025 in Porto. Pleased to present my work, catch up with old friends, and meet new ones. Grateful to the organisers for such a rich program — and unforgettable venues, from the Galeria da Biodiversidade to the Palácio da Bolsa. Loved it.
The tension between Karl Popper & contemporary philosophy of science is often overstated. We explore shared ground with scientific pluralism in a new IVCY chapter. W/ @Dr_inPhieVeigl & Alexander Linsbichler. https://t.co/NhsWn5D3pu
So pleased for my brother @Ioan_Smart graduating w/ his PhD @AbertayUni 🏴: building a VR toolkit for assessing effectiveness of camouflage & perceptual dynamics in simulated spaces. Excited to see where he goes with this and how it enhances ecological validity of camo research.

It’s been a lot of fun to work at Exeter and Egenis, to participate in discussion of ideas at the forefront of biology, philosophy of biology, and scientific epistemology. I am super grateful and always will be.
A brilliant day at Exeter for my graduation ceremony! I am super grateful to my supervisors Professor John Dupré and Dr. Adrian Currie for their support and encouragement and (most of all) the way they challenged my thinking!
