Supporting Education with a visit to Shanahan University

I remain firmly convinced that no nation truly develops without investing deeply in human capital. The more a society invests in education, the more sustainable its development becomes. Education remains the most critical driver of progress; the more educated a state is, the more its prospects to develop become.

Guided by this conviction, I visited Shanahan University, Onitsha, Anambra State, again yesterday, an institution I have supported on several occasions. During the visit, I continued my support with an additional donation of 25 million Naira.

I wish to sincerely commend the management, lecturers, and staff of the university for their dedication and the excellent work they are doing in nurturing a new generation of morally upright, academically sound, and socially responsible leaders. I am particularly encouraged by the vision and commitment of the institution to building a better society through quality education.

I also urge the students to remain focused on their studies and to keep hope alive. The future belongs to them, and with discipline, hard work, and strong values, they can play a vital role in building the New Nigeria we all desire.

I listened to Peter Obi’s interview and I saw nothing wrong with it. What I saw was a man who does not want to keep explaining himself over and over again, and honestly, I understand why. Since 2023, Peter Obi has spoken extensively about electricity, security, governance, and the economy. His interviews, his speeches, and his manifesto are all in the public domain for anyone willing to look. So when people still ask how Peter Obi will fix electricity, I have to wonder whether they genuinely want answers or whether they are simply looking for a talking point.

Now let us talk about Tinubu. During the 2023 election, this man ran away from every single platform where he would have been held accountable. He did not attend the presidential debate. He avoided interviews. He ducked every opportunity where Nigerians could have questioned him directly on his promises of better electricity and improved security. His supporters said nothing. They asked nothing. They demanded nothing.

He is now in office and his first term is gradually coming to an end. Electricity and insecurity remains a major challenge, yet those same supporters who never demanded answers from him in 2023 are today asking Peter Obi, a man not in office, to explain himself. That tells you everything.

If Peter Obi’s every word still generates this much attention despite not being in power, then perhaps he is the bigger picture they simply cannot stop thinking about.

Dear Nigerians, January 16th presidential election date for 2027, was well thought after, and highly strategic.

(1) Many will still be in their villages, and may most likely not vote.
(My Southeastern brothers and sisters)

(2) Salaries that will be paid between 22nd, 23rd and 24th December, must have been exhausted. (Rice, 5k or 10k for vote, will be highly tempting)

(3) House rent and school fees pressure will be hitting so hard by then. (5k, 10, or 20k for vote, will be so so tempting)

Happy Birthday to a dogged soldier in faith, Anthony Cardinal Okogie.

Today, I joyfully join the Catholic community in Nigeria, in particular the Archdiocese of Lagos and the entire nation, in celebrating a true soldier of Christ and an exemplary leader, His Eminence, Anthony Cardinal Okogie, Emeritus Archbishop of Lagos, on his Triple Milestones.
We give immense thanks to God as His Eminence marks his 90th Birthday Anniversary, 60th Priestly Ordination Anniversary, and 55th Episcopal Ordination Anniversary today, June 16, 2026.

Cardinal Okogie’s life has been a remarkable testament to inimitable faith, courage, and deep commitment to justice and the welfare of the common man. His fearless voice in defence of truth and good governance continues to inspire generations.

May the Almighty God grant him continued good health, peace, and abundant blessings as he continues to guide us with his wisdom.

Today, again, I came face to face with the deplorable state of Nigeria roads as my desire to join a great friend and brother, Gen Cecil Esekhaigbe, in Esan Central of Edo State, who was burying his mother was marred by bad roads.
I had set out at 8 am by road to Esanland to join him and bid his beloved mother, Mrs. Ebaidebheki Esakhaigbe, farewell, but little did I know that it would be a mission impossible.

Due to my previous experience with bad roads, while going to the place previously through Benin, I decided to avoid that route entirely and go through Agbor.

On getting to Agbor Junction, I turned toward the direction of my destination. However, I was shocked by the very bad shape of the road which was almost not passable by car. I persisted and continued on the journey for about 25 minutes into the road until it became completely blocked by a faulty trailer that had impeded movement, causing a great gridlock.

Then, I decided to take Ugoneki Road, which would have also led me to my destination. Again, getting to the road was another nightmare, making my journey impossible. The poor condition of many Nigerian roads breaks my heart.

Though it was impossible for me to physically attend, I remain in earnest prayers with my brother, Gen Cecil, for a successful event.

I use this opportunity to continue to plead with our political leaders, at all levels, to concentrate on maintaining, rehabilitating, and reconstructing our existing roads and other infrastructure rather than embarking on new projects that will never be completed.

I look forward to the day when Nigerians will be able to travel freely and safely on good and well-maintained roads in New Nigeria that is Possible. -PO

Coping with the systematic collapse of our institutions.

When the controversy surrounding the removal of former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, unfolded, I expressed a concern to a friend: that the greatest damage might not be immediate, but the message it sends about the sanctity and independence of our institutions to the world.

Strong economies are built on trust. Investors can manage security risks, policy risks, and even market risks. What they fear most is uncertainty in the rule of law and a judiciary that is perceived to be vulnerable to political pressure.

Today, many Nigerians have lost confidence in systems that should protect them. Businesses increasingly request that their contracts be governed by foreign jurisdictions because they have greater confidence in those institutions than in our own. That should concern every patriot.

We must never sacrifice our sacred institutions on the altar of politics. Nations rise when institutions are stronger than individuals. "The federal High Court Judgement ordering the de-registration of the ADC and other political parties is just one of those activities that further reduces the common man's trust in our legal systems" it should be reversed.

I pledge that we will restore the dignity, independence, and integrity of the Judiciary. The common man must have a voice. The business community must be protected from legal uncertainty and intimidation. Justice must be impartial, accessible, and respected by all.

To our judges, legal luminaries, senior advocates, and lawyers: this is your moment. Rise, defend the rule of law, take back your country!
