Who would have imagined, in 2024 Gambia, Two journalists would be charged and arraigned before a court for the criminal offence of False Publication and Broadcasting contrary to section 181A of the criminal code. The alleged crime is publishing a story titled “ President Barrow chooses Muhamed Jah as successor for the 2026 Presidential elections”. This is ill-advised and regressive for a country that is transitioning from dictatorship.
