Firefighters and the public are being put at risk.
Austerity has gutted Scotland's fire service, and it's the same story across the UK. Whoever leads next must commit to more firefighters on the front line and real investment in public services.

Firefighters Martyn Sadler and Jennie Logan tragically lost their lives at the Bicester Motion fire on 15 May.
Martyn’s funeral will take place on 31 July.
In consultation with the fire service, we are calling on all FBU members to hold a visible minute of silence at 10.45am.
On this day in 1972 five London dockers were imprisoned for picketing, and freed after a mass upswell of solidarity from across the labour movement.
250,000 people took part in strike action, and the dockers were released.
This week marks the FBU's first ever young members school!
Young firefighters and control workers aged 21-29 from across the UK have come together to:
🔥 Share ideas and experiences
🔥 Learn from each other
🔥 Build solidarity and organise
The next generation are actively building the future they want to see in the fire service.
Relentless.

Well earned, @robbieg_1. 💛💙
FBU general secretary @UnionSteveW visited Cornwall to attend an all members meeting, visit HQ control room, and speak with trainees. It's clear Cornwall fire service has been starved of adequate funding for too long.
The government must urgently develop a funding strategy to properly resource firefighters and control staff, prioritising their health and safety.
It was a great couple of days in Cornwall hearing from members across the service on issues and challenges they are facing.
Another FRS, that needs urgent funding and investment.
🚨The national employers have made a pay offer.
Today, the FBU executive council have met and voted to recommend that members accept this offer.
@UnionSteveW explains...
Assistant general secretary, Ben Selby, has announced the results of the FBU 2025 general secretary election. Steve Wright has been elected as the new general secretary following a ballot of union members.
Good meeting at Salfords Fire station tonight, met with the duty watch and 2 watches in the joint Fire Control room.
Discussions around the future of the fire service and the union and key issues affecting our members.
Thanks for the dinner 🍽️

Today would have been my dad’s birthday.
Joining the fire service as a teenager like me and my son, sadly lost to cancer. This drives my determination to reduce the risks firefighters face from contaminants and occupational cancers.

Keep fighting for the truth. Keep fighting for justice. Never forget that 72 +++ lost their lives.
Forever in our hearts💚
Hospital league tables are a disastrous idea.
You do not improve standards by shaming hard-working NHS staff, damaging morale and adding unnecessary stress.
We should support - not scapegoat - our medics. That means giving them the resources they need to provide care for all.
