1. Egg prices have surged nearly 40% over the past year, with retail prices around ₹8.50–₹9 per egg, largely because poultry feed costs have risen sharply.

2. India’s ethanol push is increasing demand for maize: about 37% of maize production is now going to ethanol distilleries and since maize accounts for roughly 65–70% of poultry production costs, boom.

3. Poultry consumes about 60% of India’s maize supply, while ethanol demand is expanding rapidly. Unless maize production rises sharply, roz khao ande for many would be tough.

Last night around 10.50 pm there was a long jam while coming from Delhi to Noida at sector 142 on the expressway. Why? A couple of cars had collided into each other and they were arguing leading to the snarl. There are multiple cameras on the expressway, google map was also "red" yet there as no intervention from @noidapolice @Noidatraffic . Was any question asked to the concerned officer?

My local GST officer earns around ₹75 lakh a month from bribes. He takes a ₹5,000 bribe for each GST application he approves. On average he approves 50 applications a day, that's ₹2.5 lakh per day—or roughly ₹75 lakh per month. Meanwhile, his official salary is only ₹77,000 per month.

Tukaram Mundhe is a household name right now, and one spoken of wt enormous respect and regard

You may argue with his methods, but surely we deserve to know that the food we eat is safe and that basic standards are being enforced

There’s a larger lesson here for our govt and civil servants.

Do your job with this kind of commitment and u won’t merely hold office. You’ll build a legacy.

People will speak of u years later, as they still do of G.R. Khairnar and T.N. Seshan.

2 immediate opportunities come to mind:

• Mumbai traffic
The cop who finally sorts out our hopelessly psychotic traffic, nails people driving on the wrong side and explains that red lights are not optional, will become an enduring urban legend.

• Open spaces and greenery
The civil servant or politician who becomes an uncompromising warrior for preserving Mumbai’s open spaces and increasing its green cover will go down in folklore

Singapore, New York and Hong Kong prove that dense, crowded global cities don’t have to surrender every available square foot to concrete.

Competence is remembered

Sometimes, simply doing your job exceptionally well might be the greatest legacy of all

दिल्ली की ट्रैफिक पुलिस @dtptraffic पिछले 25 साल के सबसे निकृष्ट दौर से गुज़र रही है... और इसका सबूत आपको तब मिलता है जब आप प्रगति मैदान टनल से होकर रिंग रोड पर निकलते हैं... यहां एक सीएनजी पंप है... यहां अवैध दुकाने बनी हैं... ऊपर से पंप वाला ट्रैफिक कंट्रोल नहीं करता... जिसकी वजह से यहां चोक प्वाइंट बन जाता है... और नतीजा इंडिया गेट तक रोज़ जाम लग जाता है...

हैरत की बात है कि ये बेवकूफी रात 9.30 बजे तक और कई बार तो 10 बजे तक रहती है... और ये सब पिछले तीन से साल से रोज़ हो रहा है... लेकिन सबसे शर्मनाक बात है कि जो बात राहगीरों को समझ में आ रही है वो ट्रैफिक पुलिस को समझ नहीं आ रही है... पिछले चार साल में मैंने आज तक इस प्वाइंट पर किसी ट्रैफिक पुलिस वाले को व्यवस्था संभालते नहीं देखा... जागो भाई... नींद से जागो...
