I left the house with just enough money to buy two bunches of grapes. It wasn’t a luxury—it was a necessity. I needed something to balance my blood sugar, now that a single kilo of sugar in Gaza costs over $200. Just imagine: being sick, and counting grapes like medicine.
As I walked back from the market, tired and distracted, I heard two small voices behind me. I turned around and saw a boy and a girl—siblings—standing shyly.
"Uncle... we wish we could eat grapes. Can you share some with us?"
My heart sank. Without hesitation, I said,
"Of course."
I reached into my bag and handed them one of the bunches. They smiled with genuine joy, like I had just given them the world.
Something moved in me, and I asked gently,
"Where are your parents?"
The boy looked at me with eyes far older than his years and replied,
"We lost our parents at the beginning of the war... now we live in a tent nearby with our aunt."
I held back my tears. I didn’t want to seem weak—not in front of children who had already endured more than most adults ever will. But in that moment, they were stronger than me. Braver.
They ate the grapes with pure happiness. Not just fruit—but a piece of their stolen childhood.
And I realized then: Gaza doesn’t just bleed from bombs. It bleeds from hunger, from loss, from the cruelty of life itself. And yet, in the middle of all this pain, there is still light. A child’s smile. A shared bunch of grapes. A small act of kindness that feels like resistance.
Update from Gaza ‼️
I wanted to share an important update about my situation. I recently moved into a small apartment with monthly rent because my son, Hamoud, can no longer live in a tent due to his serious health condition. He needs a more stable and safe environment.
However, the major challenge now is the high cost of rent, especially given the severe housing shortage caused by the widespread destruction in the city. If I can’t pay, the landlord will have no hesitation in evicting us and renting the apartment to someone else who can afford it.
That’s why I’m kindly asking for your support and solidarity — by resharing this post or supporting my campaign if you're able to.

Every share could open a door of hope for us 🙏
Attacking people who rely on benefits is abusive and demoralising. It damages lives. It doesn't save any money.
True then, and true now.

Humanitarian access in Gaza remains restricted.
@UNOCHA says in the last 3 weeks, only 4 out of 70 coordinated aid movements to the north via checkpoints were permitted by Israeli authorities.
Without humanitarian access, lives hang in the balance. https://t.co/o0EzM6GtYv
