Berkeley firefighters rescued a hiker Friday who slipped off a trail into a creek just below a small waterfall. Fire crews “converged on the scene to treat, package, and extricate the patient using a rescue rope system,” @BerkeleyProFire said. They shared this video.
As our beautiful city grows more vertically and with increasing density, firefighters have been struggling to keep up with demand. Our stations are in disrepair, our staffing model must retool in order to serve Berkeley’s new skyline, and our services must keep up.
