At #DAMOP GPMFC Workshop, Hartmut explains why we can hope to get a quantum advantage in sensing from only a single qubit, and talks about a test of a causal nonlinear extension to quantum mechanics.
In our second Review, Kenneth Brown (@kenbrownquantum), John Chiaverini, Jeremy Sage & Hartmut Häffner discuss materials opportunities to improve trapped-ion #qubits: https://t.co/sO7Jr5LFWo @MITQuanta@Berkeley_ions
Today is arXiv’s 30th anniversary and we’d like to toast to our amazing community. Thank you all for creating a culture of #OpenScience and #OA! #arXiv30
I've spent the last week non-stop thinking about this awesome experiment from @Berkeley_ions.
In it, they couple the motion of two ions by using a floating electrode to mediate the charge.
This could allow for remote cooling and even gates!
So cool😍

Really excited to see this results from @Berkeley_ions on coupling two ion traps with a wire on the arxiv: https://t.co/uFOwvKuB2o These experiment started in 2007 @iqoqi, talk about perseverance ⏲️
