Assistant Professor @UNC_BCBP. Social Media Editor @JMolBiol. Unraveling mysteries of disordered and dynamic proteins w/ NMR and biophysics. Views are my own.
New preprint alert! We share some of our recent insights about sequence similarity in IDP protein families and find that conservative substitutions in well-conserved binding motifs of the CITED proteins have big impacts on their ensembles and functions.

This work was led by Jamie and Emma, two outstanding early stage graduate students, with support from rotation student (and former tech) Garrett and Stu from the UNC Biomolecular NMR core. Please join me in congratulating them for their first (of many) papers from our group!🎉

We celebrated the outstanding Student Talks in our Scientific Communication class (BIOC710).
Olivia Maurer, Emily Sipko, and Gisselle Prida—shared their research with clarity and confidence which displayed the power of science communication & the incredible work in our labs. #PhD
I am incredibly excited to share our lab’s recent work at the upcoming Intrinsically Disordered Proteins GRC! Many thanks to the organizers for the invite. We look forward to seeing all of our IDP friends there! #IDPGRC2026
🎉Excited to announce that Dr. Rebecca Berlow
@BerlowLab will speak in the “Disorder in Pathogens” session at #IDPGRC2026!
The Berlow lab uses solution NMR and biophysical approaches to uncover how IDP sequence, dynamics & function drive transcriptional regulation.

We are hiring two assistant professors at UNC-CH Chemistry @uncchemistry ! We're looking for someone in Biological Chemistry (https://t.co/H8GEuqCGkQ) and someone in Physical Chemistry (https://t.co/XEZKEh04hd)! Come join me as a colleague in Chapel Hill!
Dear cryo-EM women scientists,
We want to honor you and your contributions at BPS 2025.
This year, the Cryo-EM subgroup will honor a mid/senior-career woman scientist as the inaugural June Almeida awardee.
June Almeida is the virologist who first discovered the coronavirus in 1967 using negative stain electron microscopy. Her story, like many women we know, is remarkable. https://t.co/FJQ25VQaNr
It is in the spirit of June Almeida’s innovative research that this award is named. The awardee, in addition to receiving an honorarium, will present their research at the BPS CryoEM Subgroup Symposium. The deadline for nominations for the Almeida Award is November 1st, and details of the award and the application process can be found at (https://t.co/zD0CnCErF4). Nomination packets should be sent to [email protected].
Questions? Contact @OliBClarke, me, @MeghnaG27@PilarCossio2 or @10feng
♥️We sincerely hope to see you at BPS 2025 in LA to celebrate achievements and advances in cryo-EM!
The BPS Publications Dept. seeks a new Social Media Contributor to highlight the exciting new science coming from Biophysical Journal and Biophysical Reports. The position is open to junior faculty and early-career researchers. Apply by September 30 at https://t.co/TXEIhgQuhj.
