Consul General to Boston and New England States. Former MP. Former Min of Fisheries & Oceans & CCG. Tweets are my own, retweets do not equal endorsement
My heart is heavy at the passing of @KirstyDuncanPhD we served together for six years and she was always someone I could turn to for an ear, a heart and a hug. I will miss her texts encouraging me and teaching me Gaelic. She was dedicated to service to her country & her community
We had a great day at #NCSL50 on Monday. Our visiting parliamentarians met MA Senate President Karen Spilka; discussed Alberta-New England connections with Alberta’s visiting officials; took in tariff-related discussions ; and met state legislators from across the country.
Thank you @RepPressley@RepLoriTrahan & @USRepKeating for meeting with @BernJordanCG.
Massachusetts and Canada 🇨🇦 have a great trading relationship with MA exporting $5.7 billion in goods and services to Canada annually. 286 Canadian-owned companies employ 34,500+ workers in MA.
A symbol of pride, of peace, of hope, of acceptance and of love. To me it’s the most beautiful flag in the world. Happy flag day Canada 🇨🇦! 60 years old today! #CanadianFlag#proudcanadian#TrueNorthStrongAndFree
The House welcomed special guests to the State House today: @BernJordanCG, as well as Rene Sylvestre, the Quebec Delegate to New England, and members of the @CanCGBoston and @QuebecBoston staff: Meaghan Sunderland, Lisa Carrier, and Margaret Randall.
The delegation met with Speaker @JoeShekarchi and Leader @CBlazejewski prior to session.
During the House session, the group was introduced by @JonDBrien1, whose home city of Woonsocket has a rich French-Canadian heritage.
Consul General Jordan was invited to address the House, and she spoke about how interconnected Canada and Rhode Island are: "the links between our communities have grown over the years....together Canada and the United States make up one of the most prosperous, innovative, and secure regions in the world." She shared that the bilateral trade between the United States and Canada is massive, worth nearly $1 trillion per year. The U.S. sells more goods to Canada than any other country. Last year, Canada and Rhode Island traded over $2 billion in goods and services.
This year marks the 75th Anniversary of the establishment of a Canadian Consulate in Boston which encompasses responsibilities and engagement with the states of Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
Rep. Brien introduced a resolution in honor of the occasion, and the resolution is online: https://t.co/Ctb6h7ZZQQ
Thank you @PremierofNL Andrew Furey for bringing innovators from #Newfoundland and Labrador to #Boston. There are already so many synergies between #NewEngland and #NL, and clearly more to come!
So pleased to see friends from Eastern Canada participate at this year’s New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers conference this week. Thanks to Gov. @maura_healey for hosting them. This longstanding collaboration 🇨🇦🇺🇸 has contributed to growth throughout the region.
Our province shares a special relationship with our trading partners in the U.S., particularly in New England. To help structure our economic relations and further our clean energy development, we are establishing a new Government of Newfoundland and Labrador office in Boston.
Today is a solemn day—the 23rd anniversary of the nearly 3000 lives lost in the #September11 attacks. It is a day to remember those lost and to #NeverForget, but also honor the resilience & hope of all Americans and those affected.
