Berry econ was well repped at the recent Southern Econ Assoc. conference in Tampa. Along with Profs. Marsella, Meehan, and Stephenson, we had two former students (one a prof at UGA & one a grad student at FSU) and two current students, both of whom made excellent presentations.
Berry grad Clay Collins, now an assistant professor of sport management at UGA, recently discussed expensive buyouts for college football coaches on WSB.

Kudos to econ majors Aiden Benoualid, Nico Koch, and Susie Peters for their outstanding presentations earlier today in Berry's Student Research and Creativity conference. (Pictured with President Mazumder and CRT presenter Jessica Hawxhurst.)
We recently welcomed Noah Lyman, a 2018 grad who is now an assistant professor of finance at the University of Warwick, back to campus for a guest lecture on corporate governance in our law and economics class.
Kudos to alum Dan Alban for his visit in early October. Dan gave a public lecture, guest lecture in a law and econ class, and (along with his wife Emily) had a small group chat with some students interested in legal careers.
Many thanks to Javier Portillo of Louisiana-Lafayette for spending several days with us. We greatly appreciate his public lecture on cultural districts and his guest lecture in Prof Stephenson's Law and Economics class.
We thoroughly enjoyed having Sam Fuller ('17) back on campus as our Constitution Day speaker. Sam earned a PhD in political science from UC-Davis and is currently doing a postdoc at Harvard.
Their paper is very timely because just last week the WSJ had an op-ed on how NYC's STR restrictions has led to sky-high hotel room rates:

Two papers by Dean Heller and Prof Stephenson, one with recent grad Abi Aurobindo, on the economic impact of national political conventions were cited in this story on the 2024 convention in Milwaukee:
