A mother cries with her child in her arms... and no one hears.
She sits on the dirt among the ruins of her home, holding her sick son, raising her phone hoping her cry reaches the hearts of the world 💔
Marwa Ahmed Al-Amin Bakhit, a 36-year-old Sudanese expat, had spent almost her entire life in the UAE.
She arrived when she was just one year old, grew up in Dubai and studied there from kindergarten through secondary school. She later joined Dubai Police, where colleagues remembered her as cheerful, calm and kind-hearted.
After waiting nearly 12 years to become a mother, Marwa finally became pregnant with twins.
Her pregnancy had reportedly been normal. She underwent a Caesarean section and was able to see and hold her first baby. But while her second son was being delivered, she suddenly suffered severe complications, including blood clots affecting her lungs and heart.
Doctors tried repeatedly to resuscitate her, but Marwa passed away.
Her twin boys, Fahd and Fahad, survived and were reported to be healthy. But Marwa's story was about more than motherhood.
After losing both of her parents to cancer, she had taken on responsibility for her family and became the main source of support for her two sisters. She was also the family's main provider, as her husband was unemployed.
Then came the day of her Janāzah.
A social media appeal called on people across the UAE to attend because Marwa had no family in the country apart from her husband, asking people to “be her family and brothers.”
And they answered.
Hundreds of people gathered at Al Qusais Cemetery Mosque in Dubai. Many had never met Marwa, yet they came to pray for her, offer condolences and stand beside her grieving husband and sisters.
The prayer hall became so full that some people prayed outside. Others travelled from different emirates simply to be there.
Marwa's family said they were overwhelmed by the outpouring of love, prayers and support.
She spent her life caring for others.
And when it was time to say goodbye, strangers came together to make sure she and her family were not alone.
May Allāh have mercy upon Marwa, forgive her, honour her and grant her Jannatul Firdaus.
May Allāh protect her two sons and grant them health, īmān and a beautiful life.
The Imam of Ujjain's Shahi Mosque made an emotional appeal to the government, saying,
"We have all the documents of the mosque; the mosque is 600 years old, yet there is still an order to demolish it,"
Please do not demolish our mosque
Starvation is eating away at their bodies before the bombing.
An elderly Palestinian man, exhausted by hunger and illness, lying on the sidewalk with an emaciated body unable to get up, his injured foot wrapped in a worn-out bandage.
This is not a passing image, but a documented crime of starvation before the eyes of the world.
