1/At the #ICJ, #Sudan delivered a powerful statement accusing the #UAE of fueling genocide

The Sudanese delegation laid out evidence that the UAE is fueling the RSF’s brutal campaign via illicit gold smuggling and direct military support.

Here's what they said ⬇️

2/ “This case is about a silent genocide.”

Sudan’s legal team described a crisis marked by ethnic cleansing, mass murder, and sexual violence. In Darfur and El Fasher, civilians are being targeted because of their skin color, ethnicity, and identity.

3/ Sudan alleges that the UAE is not just complicit — but directly fueling these atrocities.

According to EU Council Regulation 2024/384, the RSF is using gold exports, smuggled mostly to the UAE, to fund its operations — including buying weapons used against civilians.

4/ The RSF and aligned militias have:

Systematically executed men and boys, even infants, based on ethnicity

Raped and tortured women and girls from targeted groups

Attacked fleeing civilians

Blocked access to food, water, and aid

This, Sudan says, is genocide.

5/ The ICJ was told:

“Civilians are not being protected. They are being hunted. This conflict bears all the signs of a genocide — and the evidence suggests the crime has already been committed.”

6/ Reuters reports Sudan’s government has concluded:
➡️ RSF and allied militias have committed genocide.
➡️ The UAE is supplying weapons used in these crimes.
➡️ Much of Sudan’s gold — funding this war — is smuggled to the UAE.

7/ This case has global stakes.

Sudan is asking the ICJ to hold the UAE accountable — not just for violating arms embargoes, but for aiding and abetting genocide.

It’s a warning to the world: silence and complicity have deadly consequences.
