All of my social media has been private for a long time, but it’s so hard to interact here on a private account. Therefore, I made the decision to go anonymous. I think my views are too conservative for my district’s sentiments.
@InternetH0F I live there. It’s probably the two McDonald’s on Herndon Ave. One is close to a Walmart and the Freeway, the other is close to one of the richest neighborhoods in the city. We’ve noticed that the prices are different, so we only use points at the nice one.
@MatthewBoedy That’s great for you. Typically the students who want DE would be the AP students anyway. You sound like a good professor. If all DE professors were like you, this wouldn’t be a problem.
@eduleadership On a similar note, we didn’t have DE when I was in school, but I took 9 AP classes. I noticed that even at my respected university, the GE classes were much easier than AP.
@eduleadership True, and shouldn’t be ignored. Even in their current state, they should mean more than DE credit, but the colleges don’t agree for some reason.
@eduleadership It is well known that dual-enrollment classes tend to be easier than their AP counterparts, and the credit transfers more often to more colleges. Many AP tests have reduced their rigor over the years, but they’re still far more rigorous than DE.

@MarvelTeacher2 In a curriculum committee I was in, options were given to us (all similar), but we couldn’t bring in alternatives. The best were left out of contention. It didn’t feel like there was really a choice.
@MrDanielBuck I have the same fear. Based on the tuition cost, my hope is that its success it not just selection bias. Otherwise, its success can be explained by the Coleman Report.
@tchrscurriculum Early on, I was hired during June at a school. They called me back within ten minutes of leaving the interview. The P and VP later told me that they looked at each other and said, “We CANNOT let him leave.” I was worried they wouldn’t like me.
@JoshDaws In fact, I could have graduated in three years, but I took on a second major just to come back a fourth year. I started dating my wife that year. Terrible decision financially, but best decision I ever made. The extra debt was absolutely worth it.
@JoshDaws Agree. We joked about it at my Christian college, but it's true. For some graduates, it took many more years to find good spouses if they did not find them in college. Many also settled later for spouses that were not spiritually aligned. I'm lucky that I found mine at school.
