While the world is moving towards spatial design and immersive experiences, the Usability Testing process is still stuck in the 90s. Usability Testing calls still get sidetracked by screen sharing issues and even then participants don’t quite immerse in the product.

In moderated usability studies, observers play a pivotal role as it is difficult for the moderator to take notes while actively interacting with the participant. You want to get an observer on the call, but having too many people on the call can be intimidating for the participant.
Ivy, a (former) UX researcher at @ADDXco shares how Betafi’s observer mode allowed her to be extremely present in the conversation, while her colleague could help take notes without disturbing the interaction.
