LIRR service may shut down as early as September 18 if railroad unions go on strike.
Avoid nonessential travel and work from home, if possible. If you cannot telecommute, the MTA will provide limited shuttle bus service between certain LIRR stations to transfer points in Queens.

I’m really happy with how this story, chronicling the “decline of civility” on the LIRR, turned out. It was a true @Newsday team effort. A special thanks to the tremendously talented Neville Harvey for the brilliant illustrations.

@LIRR the front car on the 859 train from Jamaica to Grand Central smells like a diaper and idk if I’ll make it off this train without vomiting. Please someone take care of it for the next round of passengers
A 2 hour commute to travel 30 miles. The @LIRR is so poorly managed— There are simply not enough trains to service riders appropriately. Standing at Jamaica to change to GC and all the tracks are empty. Why isn’t there a train departing for Penn, GC or Bklyn every few minutes?
808 Penn to Babylon. Ripped up seats, 1/4 of the lights not working in the car, filthy windowsills, dead cushions...2023? @lirr @lirrpain @LIRRpassSuck@WTF_LIRR@LIRRoutrage#lirr
