Context is so important in gaining a more complete understanding of every brilliant word within “The Lord’s Prayer.” First, the common name we use to describe can be quite misleading - “Our Prayer” would be a far better name to describe it because this teaching was the Lord’s response to His disciples request to have Christ teach them how they should pray.

1) Jesus never prayed in public as modern religion practices today
2) He taught prayer was a private, personal practice between man and God
3) He knew “regular people” (His disciples) were struggling to understand who He was, who God was, who they were, and the nature of how all He was teaching “worked together.”

The disciples observed Jesus spent extended periods of time alone, and seemed to return from extended absences more enlightened, empowered & clear. They correlated many remarkable teachings & miracles the His time spent with His Father.

My personal understanding of prayer is this: it’s a practice where we align our receptivity with the Great 24/7 Life Giver, Energy Transmitter, Purpose Designer & Protector. It is not a begger - beg-ee, “I’m broken & unworthy”, “I need more stuff” or “come fix all my issues” beg fest or whine time

The Lord’s Prayer (Our Prayer)

“Our Father”
(mine, yours, Jesus’, everyones)

“who art”
(lives, dwells, creates, loves, provides, equips, protects, orders, inspires, heals)

“in heaven”
(every place seen, unseen, known & unknown, within & without, above & below)

“hallowed be thy name.”
(You are the only one Master Creator, Designer, Omnipotent, Omniscient & Omnipresent God)

“Thy kingdom come.”
(When we enter into alignment in truth & oneness with Him)

“Thy will be done”
(As we submit in alignment with the all knowing, all giving, all providing purpose of the God who Created us for His Design)

“on earth as it is in heaven.”
(Without division, distance, or lack of oneness between God & us)

“Give us this day our daily bread,”
(Bread is life. Manna. Substance. Purpose. We can only eat one meal at a time, live one day at a time. Let’s seek what He desires we do, how we give, serve, love, learn - today. How to be present in the now, not hoarding for tomorrow, withholding for later. Grace only happens in the now.

“and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,”
(Jesus, God in the flesh, 100% understood all his disciples fell short of the glory of God. They, and we, enter this broken world, one where misaligned, uninformed, subversive forces and deceptive actors seek to control us, lead us astray, tempt us, divide us and conquer us, “from the jump.” No matter our unique family histories, challenges or locations - every single one of us face lies, threats, dark forces, challenges, culture, temptations, lust and pride - all in search of our true identities. So let’s stop our worry, jealously, judgement, lust, envy and hate over things we see and judge “out there” - because God knows we can only, and should only, govern ourselves - by Design.)

“and lead us not into temptation,”
(See above. Help us not be tempted to “take the bait” of lies, lusts, envy, hate, control, comfort seeking, excuse making, idolization of self or others.)

“but deliver us from evil.”
(Help us avoid deviation, deception, false worship and loss of our true identity, by coming under the spell of any person, thing, group, institution, cult or government - and always serve You first, our Loving Father - above all else.)

“For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory,”
(One Kingdom, One God, One Truth, One Source, One LawGiver, One Set of Protocols, One Designer, One Plan, with Infinite Depth, Details and Purpose. And we are blessed to seek, find and serve our role in the Master’s Design - always.)

“forever and ever.”
(Timeless. There is no such thing in heaven as “time” as constructed by man, in the Kingdom realm of His Creation. It’s always now where “the present moment” is the gift of life.)

“Amen.”
