Our heartfelt congratulations go to Dr. Monica Juma on her appointment as Kenya’s Executive Director at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna. We commend Hon. Dr. Litha Musyimi-Ogana on her re-election as a Commissioner of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR) during the recent African Union February Summit. We also congratulate Hon. Anne Amadi, CBS for being sworn in as Judge of the First Instance Division of the East African Court of Justice. Additionally, we recognize and celebrate the six Subcommittee Chairpersons at Women in Alternative Dispute Resolution, along with the many other women making significant contributions in their respective fields. Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organization (MYWO) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 30th January 2026, bringing together approximately 653 delegates from all the 47 counties to deliberate on key organizational policy matters.
During the AGM, Hon. Dr. Mama Senator Beth Mugo, CBS, EGH, former Cabinet Minister, was appointed as the MYWO Patron following the demise of Mama Hon. Dr. Phoebe Asiyo.
Upon the passing of Mama Phoebe Asiyo, the organization observed a three (3) month period of mourning to honor her remarkable legacy. Thereafter, MYWO followed the due process as stipulated under Article 25 of the MYWO Katiba, with the National Executive Council (NEC) recommending a patron to the AGM for ratification.
