Nearly completed my first week in my new job in inpatient neuro rehab as an OTA (hopefully soon to be Occupational Therapist pending uni results and HCPC reg). Super lovely team, exciting setting and lots to get my head round! Off on BLS and MVA training tomorrow.
Love this! A journal is definitely something I’ve thought about, especially for when I (hopefully) qualify in the Summer and start my first post. Graphics like this make reflection feel so accessible and less daunting almost✨
Todays doodle: Spending 15 minutes at the end of a working day to reflect can help us to really switch off & stop those nagging thoughts - start a journal or just jot it down!
Tough day on placement today, lots to reflect on and I’m feeling lucky to have my own meaningful occupations tonight (drank a big cuppa, stroked the dog for a good half hour, off to the gym now and then I’m going to escape in a book) 💛
Part way through my 4th week on placement … I am exhausted (quite enjoying the pre 9pm bedtimes though 😏). Sending good vibes to all my fellow peers on placement, we got this ✨
3/12 week on placement started today ✨ had my favourite day so far today (and on a Monday!) Starbucks cup to depict my biggest support to get through the early morning journey☕️
Day 1 on placement ✨ the imposter syndrome is REAL. But I have such a good feeling about the team I’m working in and already feel so supported. Ready to learn and be a super sponge 🧽
I found the presentation hosted by the @CLCHNHSTrust today on AHPS working in the community soooo valuable! Feeling like I have a much better idea of the skills required by a community OT and excited heading into my pre-placement visit tomorrow! 🌟
@abbielouise_OT Hi Abbie. On my other two placements (hospital based), I’ve found that I’ve needed to be flexible with my time and to work on my ability to prioritise. I worked across several wards and found it very important to get to know the staff on the wards too. Good luck! 💚
Really enjoyed tonight’s @RCOTMajorHealth talk on occupational therapy meeting the psychosocial needs of people living with and beyond Cancer. A new area of OT for me and definitely food for thought whilst I’m choosing a topic for my Researching Practice module!
I’ve been spending this week preparing for my placement in a rapid assessment and discharge team in A&E! Something completely new for me and I’m so looking forward to a new challenge 💫
@AmyWils29182458 Oh Amy, we’ve made it through the term and we’re on to the next (that’s how I keep thinking about it all). Thank you, I’m excited now! Good luck with yours too ☺️
Trying to remember that ‘good enough is good enough’ today and that despite not getting what I’d have liked to achieve on my assignments before Christmas … I tried the best I could at the time, I passed and I’m feeling ready for my placement starting 💫
