Australian agriculture is full of enthusiastic go-getters. Hear from 3 young innovators at our National Fodder Conference in Coffs Harbour. @DamonHumphris from Taggr, Gavin Leersen from BaleTime & Bryce Riddell @hay_bryce from Hay Shepherd. Book today - https://t.co/e8SLpAzzns
Well that’s something I never thought I’d do…. Lentil sowing at YONGALA.
One of two lentil trials. One at Yongala & one at Jamestown. Looking at 11 varieties, plant populations (80, 120 and 160 plants/m2) and the new acid tolerant rhizobia vs the normal.
@EldersLimited
Sometimes the best trial is the simplest! Hand spread various rates of SOP on hay ground to check for K response. This was replicated on 4 different soil types. 🌾🚜
An awesome day at Wandearah at the Saline Soils Mega-Site showcasing the use of PA map technology to design a cut and fill automated design - moving 10cm of sand onto a saline flat after being applied with gypsum. 🌱

SALINE SOILS MEGA SITE -
Come along and see the tech in action at Chris Crouch’s property on April 11th, 3pm
✅ Cutting edge PA technology tools for worsening dry saline soils
✅ Correcting non-wetting sands
✅ The benefits of deep ripping/amendments to fix compaction
Thankyou to @AgriFuturesEvokeAG from the SPAA team! An incredible few days of learning, connection and inspiration.
We can’t wait for the next one. #evokeAG24
Extremely excited to announce a new product I have been developing!
TAGGR.
The industries first retrofittable auto hay tagging device.
Tag export hay bales as they are being made!
Production is limited so please order ASAP for the coming season.

@PitCritic Glad you asked! I’m interested in finding areas of kaolinite vs. carbonate vs ferric soil types for example… all common across the UN and having very different yield potentials and therefore varying management.
Another bonus is finding gravel vs sand!
EM38 is great to pick light vs. heavy soils types… But still requires a lot of ground truthing to identity different clay types.
That’s why gamma peaked my interest. A current @UnfsNorth project looks at how gamma layers can map clay types.

🎤 New Project Alert (Part B) 🚨
Have you wished you could do more to change the soil you have to work with on your farm?
This project aims to demonstrate the use of automated land forming designs in dune/swale systems in the UN using local providers.
Details/dates early 24’
🎙️ New Project Alert (Part A) 🚨
3D PRECISION AG SOIL TUTORIAL
Do you understand how and why your soils vary across your farm? Learn how map layers can help interpret variability and relate back to decision making for better outcomes.
Details and dates to come in early 2024!
Todays learning…. Ground truth, ground truth, ground truth!
Been looking at gamma, EM, elevation and soil data for weeks still with a few question marks. Punch a few cores and drive across a few zones and it’s all so much clearer. 👌🌾
‘The maps don’t lie’ - niether do soil cores! @BethSleep and I navigated to 3 zones in the ‘Scrub’ paddock today. Massive yield variability - 2-6.5T Barley last year.
We paired EM38, Potassium, Uranium and Thorium map layers with Yield and found 3 quite different soil profiles
Mapping soil constraints in 3D ⬇️ This @theGRDC project will be very exciting for us to learn more about our complex, undulating clay based soils in the Upper North. Gamma Radiometrics revealing yield constrained zones we’ve never been able to explain in the ‘Bus Stop’ paddock 🌱
What a fantastic few days!!
Spent yesterday recording the new round of podcasts talking about recent soil case studies.
Then today was the first UNFS Soil Conference. Very rewarding to be apart of.
I’ve always wondered what the trade off is to including another species into the vetch rotation. No better way to answer the question than doing a trial. Read the below if you want to know too. 🌱
The next case study as part of the Soils Knowledge project is hot off the press and ready to hit tractor cabs across the Upper North Farming region! ‘Demonstrating Vetch Mix Options to Reduce Soil Erosion Whilst Maintaining Good Nitrogen Fixation’.
