Wonderful news for Austin! @SBAgov Administrator @SBAIsabel Guzman has awarded @CentralTexasBBB a grant to create a Women’s Business Center in Austin.

As the largest Texas city without an SBA office, the new Women’s Business Center is a game-changer—empowering women entrepreneurs, breaking barriers, and building a stronger, more inclusive economy. With the trusted leadership of the Foundation for Better Business, I’m proud to support this bold step for Austin’s future.

In 2023, I created the Mayor’s Task Force for Austin Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) to figure out what we can do to create a more equitable business ecosystem. Carla McDonald led this task force and brought together an impressive array of women leaders, who worked tirelessly to put recommendations together— including creating a Women’s Business Center here in Austin.

Carla and the other AWE task force members provided an important roadmap for how we as a community can move forward. I'm proud of the action we've taken and will continue to take to ensure Austin is the best place for women entrepreneurs.
