I started it on the @LucyCavColl creative writing retreat and more than two years later, lots of swearing and even more tears, I’ve reached the end of my first draft! It’s 115,403 words so needs some heavy editing, but it’s there on the page at least! #amwriting #fiction

In a turn up for the books, at @CheltLitFest we went back in time to hold a public vote for what should win the 1949 Booker Prize (if it had been around then): Orwell’s 1984 or Mitford’s Love in a Cold Climate. The latter won. More proof referendums are never a good idea...
