This essay took me 3 years to write. It began as an impulse to shit talk Miami, and slowly morphed into the realization that we—shit talkers—are often implicated in the overall shittiness of things. Thanks @acentosreview for giving this piece a home.

@PSLiterary I immediately thought of Linnea from a book I loved as a kid called Linnea in Monet's Garden. It's about a little girl who visits the places Monet painted and learns about his technique. Haven't thought about it in years. Funny how some books stay with you even decades later.
@nicoletellsit You can do it! There are lots of Reddit subs for good advice about traveling with babies. It will be different than adults-only travel, but can still be rewarding. But you know your kid/yourself best and what you can manage.

Is the mom in Home Alone a good mom? "Goodness doesn’t matter," @Nancy_Reddy writes. "You can deeply love your kids and also significantly screw up. Showing up is how you show your love." Read this essay on Kate McCallister as a messy model of motherhood: https://t.co/V6Q9jsOjiT
@happy_stomach I came on Twitter to log out and this was the first tweet I saw. Even if the 2nd half didn’t go how you’d hoped, I hope you can still feel proud of this amazing accomplishment! 🙌
@jtewwrites Thank you Jill! This resonates with me. When I think “ugh I’ve been at this for two years and have little to show for it,” this reminds me that I’ve been cultivating the soil. ☺️🌱
