Truth is the only thing that will create the shift in human consciousness we need to break free.
Decentralization = If everyone has power, no one does.
Dario has written that we need to “pace the frontier,” and Sam has agreed. People may be surprised by my response: go ahead.
You guys are the frontier. By any reasonable metric — market share, revenue growth, model capability — the two of you have a duopoly on frontier intelligence. You’ve also claimed the lead is widening because of recursive self-improvement.
I don’t see what you see in the lab. If the unreleased models are scary enough that you think you should slow down, I support your decision to be responsible.
But stop pretending you need anyone else’s permission. Stop pretending antitrust law has to be suspended so you can form a cartel. Stop pretending you need a regulatory approval process that supersedes product liability. Stop pretending METR is independent when it is intertwined with Anthropic’s investors and staff. Stop pretending you need those same evaluators to police competitors who aren’t even at the frontier.
Most of all, stop pretending the motivation to slow down is purely altruistic. You face massive product-liability exposure if your products enable a truly damaging cyberattack. The market already punishes models that behave in unpredictable or unauthorized ways. After the Hugging Face episode, it is simply good business for OpenAI and Anthropic to trade some raw power for reliability and predictability. Call it alignment if you want. It is also just giving customers what they want.
Pacing the frontier would also create breathing room for a more intelligent conversation about regulation than Bernie Sanders’ “shut it all down.” China is very unlikely to join a global agreement, as you know, and that has to be taken into account as well.
So go ahead and pace the frontier. You are the ones setting it. The easiest way not to build superintelligence is for you to agree not to build it. Demanding your preferred regulatory framework as the price of that will look like blackmail of the public and the political system. So just do it.
If you do, you’ll buy goodwill for the next conversation. If you don’t, we’ll know this was just another bid for regulatory capture — or an election-season psyop.
@ThornsFC You allow people to where insane clothing talking about murdering the President, but then assault a women wearing a shirt that is nothing more than basic biology (xx and xy). Disgusting.
New 30 km/h area speed limit signs will be posted at neighbourhood entry and exit points. Once you enter a signed area, the 30 km/h speed limit applies throughout the local road network until you leave that area.
Slower speeds help reduce the risk of serious collisions and make neighbourhood streets safer.

@PramilaJayapal It's not a tax break if we haven't even collected taxes from it. It doesn't technically go into effect until 2028. Further, the Democrats in WA have made it clear that it is going to be an everyone tax.
So yeah, you can screw off. Yes, on I-645.
This makes sense. (1) Ukraine had been hacking Starlink to get around flight restrictions for years. (2) When Starlink tightened their security, the hacks failed. (3) For political reasons, Zelenskyy accused Musk of shutting down access.
The pedophile protection party’s president is laundering right-wing conspiracy theories through the most corrupt DOJ in American history.
Whenever the news turns bad, this creep reaches for one name: mine. So let’s make it crystal clear. My name has always been Ilhan Omar.
Maybe you should focus on what your VP’s real name is.
@ApathyOfMiracle@washingtonpost LOL.
The Hunter Biden Laptop was a conspiracy too. So was COVID-19 lab leak, COVID efficacy claims, MK ultra, Tuskegee, NSA bulk metadata collection, Gulf of Tonkin, Crossfire Hurricane, and about a thousand other ones, but go on.
There's plenty of data to back it up.
@just4whatever1@washingtonpost "It is better to remain silent at the risk of being thought a fool, than to talk and remove all doubt of it"
He recently switched to R. Prior to that he was an independent. His past donations were to Ds. He has ties to a D consultant, & supported a progressive super PAC.
@kaiaulumaui@washingtonpost The most misleading title ever. Geezus, man. And everyone continues to wonder why mainstream media is at an all time low in trust. They have sued because the Democrats put another Dan Sullivan on the ticket to confuse voters. That's what really happened.
