In the space of a few months Caversham Primary has been graded outstanding, inadequate and good.
Single word grades used to judge schools are highly problematic and do not help parents.
@PaulGarvey4@AngelaRayner@s Ofsted's complacency is something I'll never get. As Nikki da Costa said on R4: "The consequences of poor legislation are felt by the public, often in very visceral ways...as Diane Abbot said; what could be more unjust than losing your life because of poorly drafted legislation?"
It’s KS2 results day tomorrow. If anyone has any questions about accountability measures, which pupils are included and which ones aren’t, and how things are calculated, please do ask. I’ll be around all day.
Breaking: Leaders’ unions will consider the 'unprecedented step' of asking their members to quit as Ofsted inspectors unless the watchdog delays roll-out of new inspections and ditch plans for five grades

Important research paper includes evidence from Alternative Big Listen and confirms our belief that a major overhaul is required. Amending Toolkits won't be sufficient to address fundamental weaknesses in the process and unlikely to win back lost trust. https://t.co/BgpwJKckfa
The Alternative Big Consultation report on Ofsted’s current proposals is published today. We’re pleased with press coverage and general response. You can read full report at https://t.co/eopbDJFzO0. The second part provides insight into the strong desire for more radical change.
Our Talk:Write School and Teacher packages are available as digital only. 4 hours video CPD, PDF books and resources. They are cheaper than our print book versions. Ideal for those who work paper-free or read on devices. https://t.co/Z6K7D61nLf
Julia Waters, Ruth Perry's sister, has just completed the ABC .Please do the same and comment on Ofsted's fitness for purpose @thealternativebiglisten.co.uk
I’m doing some webinars to show how it’s possible to provide all our pupils with gorgeous, accessible content in geography, history and RE.
The webinars will be live and recorded. Each session will include a draft planning unit for KS1, KS2 and KS3.

Following the Big Listen we hoped Ofsted had listened. Their current consultation suggests they haven't. So, today we launch Alternative Big Consultation where you can unequivocally give your views on their proposals as well as consider fresh approaches. https://t.co/hGbaRGZQ0a
Ofsted. Inspection. The sheer relentless stupid bollocks of it all. Too much power, not enough meaning or credibility.. and everyone has to dance the bloody tune.
Time to put it out of its misery and everyone else’s so they can get on with the real work.
Ofsted’s trial inspections of volunteer schools which will start from the first week of next term will be testing out new toolkits that are set to be part of the next inspection framework. https://t.co/UbgC6ttWzc

All the more reason for a moratorium on routine inspections while a new inspection settlement is negotiated by the government (not Ofsted) in consultation with the sector
