He is a master of optics. Look at the moment at Kalighat today. His team didn’t try to keep the cameras away or prevent the media from capturing his Non vegetarian Prasad grahan. Quite the opposite—the social media machinery made sure those images reached the public instantly.

And the message is unmistakable. Chief minister of Bengal, the BJP Hindutva Poster boy is sitting in the temple and eating fish.

On Kaushiki Amavasya, Maa Kali is offered Bhog that traditionally includes fish, meat, fruits and vegetables. For Shakta traditions, these offerings are deeply rooted in Bengal’s religious and cultural practices.

Amid the manufactured Veg vs Non-Veg controversy, Suvendu sends a simple, powerful message: Bengal’s food habits are not up for political policing.

Satvik Hindus and Shaktas can coexist. Different traditions can coexist. Different food habits can coexist. Hindus can remain united without surrendering Bengal’s cultural identity.

And that is precisely why this moment matters.

The message is clear: don’t weaponise food. Don’t divide Hindus over dietary choices. Don’t try to rewrite Bengal’s traditions for political convenience.

Let the manufactured controversy go to sleep.

Bengal’s traditions will survive. Bengal’s Shakta heritage will survive. And Hindu unity will survive too.

Yesterday I wrote about the psychology behind PM .@narendramodi Ji’s BookMyShow experiment in Vadodara.

But there may be an even bigger story here.

Why BookMyShow?

Because it potentially changes the very architecture of political campaigning.

For decades, the political communication model was:

Party → Rally → Speech → TV coverage → Public

The emerging model could be:

Event → Experience → Creator → Social Media → Millions of viewers

And that distinction is HUGE.

A platform like BookMyShow already sits at the intersection of entertainment, experiences and Bharat's digitally active population. Bringing a political event into that ecosystem potentially allows politics to enter spaces where traditional party communication doesn't naturally reach.

Now imagine this model at scale:

A major Modi Ji event becomes the content engine.

Creators capture it from their own perspectives.

Short-form videos travel across Instagram, YouTube and X.

Regional creators reinterpret the same development story in their own languages.
