@VFSGlobal: terrible experience trying to get visa for work trip to France from @franceindc_CG . Used expensive "Collect from Home" service. Nobody responds for days to queries, keeps asking for the same information over and over again (each time a different person responds).
Thank you Profs @NeelanjanaSeng1 Supratim Datta and Bidisha Sinha for hosting me at @iiserkol today. Delightful experience giving a talk and meeting students.
Our lab, in collaboration with partners from @genentech, @sanofi, @gsk, @pfizer, @sangerinstitute, and @emblebi, has been awarded £2M by @OpenTargets to generate novel perturbation data across multiple disease models and develop large generative models to facilitate the discovery of drug targets. As part of the first wave of hires, I am looking for candidates for two machine learning-focused positions at different levels (Predoc, Postdoc) and one computational biologist. The positions available are:
1. Machine Learning Scientist (Phd required, Senior Postdoc): https://t.co/O49r8TR43c
2. Machine Learning Scientist (Postdoc, Predoc (Msc)): https://t.co/7rVQkWPJgp
3. Computational Biologist and Applied ML (Postdoc): https://t.co/LBqJFvnNQA
deadline 3.07.24
Now out in Current Opinion in Toxicology: our review of pipelines and potential applications of single-cell RNA-Seq analysis in the toxicology domain. Excellent work by David Filipovic, @ZadeQana and Daniel Marri:

My lab would like to recruit Ph.D. students with M Sc Physics, Mathematics, or Physical Chemistry; B Tech (or BE) in any core engineering subject. Research area: Biophysics and computation. Apply to the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering at IIT Bombay.
The Department of Biomedical Engineering @michiganstateu is looking to fill multiple open rank tenure-system faculty positions in in the broad area of cancer research. BME is located within the lovely @MSUIQ institute / building. Please share and apply!

"Roughly seventy per cent of us have some Yamnaya ancestry in our DNA. More than the Greeks, the Romans, or the Chinese, it’s the nomadic Yamnaya whose legacy survives in our words and our bodies."
- What a terrific piece by @mnvrsngh
https://t.co/YXB5P2Aqkj
He showed that AhR binding is influenced by both cell type-agnostic sequences flanking the AhR binding motif and cell type-specific chromatin features.
Published @ToxSci, work funded by @NIEHS
Happy to share new paper from our lab led by Dr. David Filipovic
Interpretable predictive models of genome-wide aryl hydrocarbon receptor-DNA binding reveal tissue-specific binding determinants https://t.co/Ve9PRg50Mt
David developed interpretable XGBoost models to predict DNA binding by the Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor, an inducible transcription factor, across multiple cell types. He integrated DNA sequence features, TF binding and histone modification ChIP-seq, and DNase-seq data from ENCODE.
@arjunrajlab But isn't its (unforeseen by Waddington) correspondence with a dynamical system with the valleys as attractors and ridges as energetic barriers between cell type switching useful?
Every day I am in awe of international students. Doing a PhD in your native language and home country is hard. Doing it in a non-native language, in a different country and different culture is so much harder. You are not stupid. You are legends.
