How do I pray when I don’t feel like praying?
1. Never depend upon my feelings.
2. Use a prayer from Scripture.
3. Recite God’s attributes.
4. Thank God for His blessings.
5. Be guided by a prayer list.
6. Focus on the needs of others.
7. Rejoice that Jesus is praying for me.
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts; And see if there be any hurtful way in me, And lead me in the everlasting way.” Psalms 139:23-24
Sunday by Sunday people are told how to embrace ”the good life,” have happy marriages, and raise nice children, but not how to get right with God.
Biblical preaching is hard.
Discipleship is hard.
Serving others is hard.
Evangelism is hard.
Do the hard things!
The higher my view of God is, and the lower my view of self is, the less I focus on the sins of others committed against me, and the more grateful I am of God’s mercy and grace towards me for the sins I commit against Him.
See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.- Colossians 2:8
Two things I need to be reminded of when on social media:
1- “This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger;” James 1:19
2- “So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God.” Romans 14:12
Even the most educated theologian isn't always right, and the greatest preacher can misinterpret Scripture.
There is no room for intellectual pride when it comes to the limitless heights and depths of knowing God.
A faithful student of Scripture is also a humble student.
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
Lord please bless me with wisdom.
A plan to not complain this week:
1. Give thanks always (1 Thess 5:18)
2. Glory is coming (Rm 8:18)
3. Never complain (Phil 2:14)
4. Jesus never complained (1 Pet 2:23)
5. We deserve much worse (Lk 13:2-3)
6. Suffering never robs you of Christ (Rm 8:35–39)
“I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it.”Matt 16:18
“...among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.”Acts 20:28

From the sexual abuse coverups in the church, church too/me too, to exposing one’s “church hurt”, there can be a tendency for one to not trust “the church”.
As a survivor of sexual abuse and one who has experienced church hurt, I can relate to the level of pain, frustration,1/4
submit to godly/biblical leadership, fellowship with, and serve other saints there.
I love the local church, true faithful shepherds, and praise God for these precious gifts. 3/4
Amen. I realize that my sexual abuse is not just about me, but how I can use my pain and testimony to point others to Christ. Ultimately, it's for my sanctification and His glory.
A victim mindset focused on self will not allow me to focus on and glorify my Savior.
