At any rate I'm not arguing all demand should be government driven but government spending is a good way prioritise

And that's for the business, the government is also, rightly, expected to provide services that don't feed directly into the wealth cycle

Just the particular model most western governments have taken these last few decades has produced the above model. Taken it too far imo, no reason power should be in private hands.

The public sector is further upstream than the private sector but it still has a vital role to play in wealth creation as it is a prerequisite to a thriving private sector
