I'm hiring a technician to help with research on biogeochem of harmful algal blooms. It's a one year position, ideal if you're thinking about a career in research or grad school but wanting to get more research experience first! More details here 👇

UM has no intention of bargaining fairly and no commitment to actually determining if workers are striking. They've already set up their system to withhold all but one day of April's pay when they have yet to even try to determine whether folks worked for half of that pay period
well. @UMich has officially docked all pay but $100 for april from its grad workers, putting many of us in a position of dangerous financial precarity. friends/allies, please consider donating to @geo3550 strike fund at https://t.co/NlE4QIQXh6. we need all the help we can get ✊
Yesterday was a phenomenal day (the sort that reminds me why I'm doing a PhD). I...
- baked a cake
- heard that the new combustion module for our mass spec (that's been offline since Nov 2021) should ship next week
- submitted my first paper
- and won the GeoClub Best GSI Award!
Many GEO members have been betting as to what HR’s counter on compensation would be, but no one was expecting a 2% raise per year for 3 years. #ShowUp next week for the week of Grad Labor Visibility, esp. next week’s bargaining session open to salaries, to show HR what you think

@spaceandweather You will pretty much need a car in Caribou. There is a bus that can connect you down to Portland/Boston, but Caribou does not really have public transportation, and it's not really bikeable in the winter
