I know P4 schools pay out ~$20M to employees. Most smaller conf. Closer to 2-3. You think payroll taxes on that would have such an impact?

The NIL endorsements still exist obviously, but from this it wouldn’t surprise me if you end up with CBAs with benefits and the whole 9.

Either way, with rev share having schools pay athletes directly, they’ll be classified as employees sooner rather than later. That’ll open a whole other can of worms.

Now with rev share, that muddies the water even more. I don’t see how they avoid that classification for too much longer.

Not to mention, Cal didn’t land elite guys his first 12 years at UMASS. It was only after his short NBA coaching stint(which had to build connections/rep) that he started landing them. The earliest one I can think of is Wagner in 01. I stand by giving Pope time to figure it out
