@Madisox43@apple58640@_theycallmetrey@fmcmeen@NCAA_PR@SchlossmanGF The tax point is interesting. I hadn’t thought about that. I’m no expert on payroll tax. I know P4 schools pay out ~$20M to employees. Most smaller conf. Closer to 2-3. You think payroll taxes on that would have such an impact?
@Madisox43@apple58640@_theycallmetrey@fmcmeen@NCAA_PR@SchlossmanGF Rev share will be the first time that athletes are payed directly by the school for playing sports. The NIL endorsements still exist obviously, but from this it wouldn’t surprise me if you end up with CBAs with benefits and the whole 9.
@Madisox43@apple58640@_theycallmetrey@fmcmeen@NCAA_PR@SchlossmanGF Okay, “technically” may not have been the correct verbiage, but they were basically treated as such.
Either way, with rev share having schools pay athletes directly, they’ll be classified as employees sooner rather than later. That’ll open a whole other can of worms.
@apple58640@_theycallmetrey@fmcmeen@NCAA_PR@SchlossmanGF They were technically independent contractors. The schools didn’t pay athletes directly, and all income came from NIL endorsement deals. Now with rev share, that muddies the water even more. I don’t see how they avoid that classification for too much longer.
Imagine beating the best college basketball program of all-time…….
In the greatest annual single-elimination tournament in the world…….
And it wasn’t close 😱🔥
Otzelmania is THRIVING in Ames, Iowa! 🌪️🌪️🌪️
Not to mention, Cal didn’t land elite guys his first 12 years at UMASS. It was only after his short NBA coaching stint(which had to build connections/rep) that he started landing them. The earliest one I can think of is Wagner in 01. I stand by giving Pope time to figure it out
To be fair, Coach Cal has been a head coach for 38 years and Pope only 9. Mark is only one title away from tying him. Give Mark more time. Success comes with experience. He will achieve it . @CoachMarkPope
@DylanBallard_UK Got a whole lot of experts in player evaluation and roster construction in these comments writing off an incomplete roster… in April.
Are they going to be good? Idk. The thing is, neither does anybody else. I do know I’ll cheer for these kids in UK blue and hope for the best.
Some of #BBN is absolutely unhinged. And the same people that were saying stokes wasn’t coming here for weeks have the audacity to act outraged when he in fact commits to Kansas.
He would’ve been nice to get, but it’s one kid. Take a breath, psychos.
