Today, we proudly celebrate Kelly’s 20 years with the OPFFA! Since joining the OPFFA in May 2006, Kelly has provided dedicated financial support through budgeting, planning, and assisting members and staff. Beyond her work, she has always brought enthusiasm, positivity, and a friendly face to every event and member interaction. Whether you attended an OPFFA event, needed help with Concur, purchased a license plate, or needed support along the way, chances are Kelly was there to help. Thank you, Kelly, for 20 years of dedication and commitment to our members and organization.
On International Firefighters’ Day, we recognize the strength, resilience, and commitment of those who serve on the front lines every day.
Firefighters do more than respond to emergencies. They protect communities, support one another, and carry the weight of the job long after the call ends.
Today, we stand in appreciation of all firefighters and the vital role they play in keeping everyone safe.

On March 3, 2026, officers from the Peterborough County OPP, Highway Safety Division (HSD), and Whitby OPP detachments conducted a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) inspection blitz. Officers trained in CMV inspection conducted nine inspections which led to seven charges and two CMV's being taken out-of-service.
The charges laid included;
• Fail to ensure performance standards are met
• Fail to ensure daily inspection is conducted properly
• Push rod stroke exceeds prescribed limit
• Fail to accurately complete daily inspection report
• Drive commercial motor vehicle with a major defect in it or in drawn vehicle
CMV inspections continue to be a regular part of the OPP mandate and help ensure that road users, both operating commercial and non-commercial vehicles, are kept safe while on the roads. Commercially operated vehicles are an integral part of our society and ensuring they are operated in a safe manner is key.
The OPP acknowledges and commends the many safe CMV drivers who contribute to safe Ontario roads.
