Dear Leslie Mehta,

I am writing today to urge you to please publicly oppose the 2026 constitutional amendment that would allow mid‑decade gerrymandering in Virginia.

In 2020, more than 2.7 million Virginians - 65.7% of voters - approved a constitutional amendment to create a fair, bipartisan redistricting process, and the resulting congressional map earned an "A" grade from the Princeton Gerrymandering Project for partisan fairness.

Every county but one voted FOR this committee, including our county.

That reform was intended to take politicians out of the map‑drawing business and to stop exactly the kind of partisan arms race now being proposed.

I believe voters should pick their politicians, not the other way around. Don’t you?

I respectfully ask you to reject any "race to the bottom" in response to gerrymandering in other states and to say clearly, in public, that Virginia should keep the fair‑maps standard we adopted in 2020.

I realize you are a Democrat and likely disagree with me as a Republican, but my hope is to appeal to you on a personal level - please do not support their efforts to rob me of my voice and vote.

I hope you will use your voice, your platform, and your campaign to encourage Virginians to vote NO on this mid‑decade gerrymandering amendment.

Thank you for your service to our community and for considering my views, even though as I said above, I know they are different from yours.
