Bike Mansfield’s regular monthly (mostly) meeting will take place next Thursday, Oct 6th in the lobby of the Nash-Zimmerman Transportation Center in Downtown Storrs. We’ll be discussing our feedback to the MDP for last weekend’s Festival and the draft Town Bike/Ped Master Plan.

Mansfield CT’s Bicycle Friendly Community renewal application was submitted to the League of American Bicyclists today (yay). Included in the application was the newly revised draft of the Town’s Bike/Ped Master Plan — it will be out for review/public comment soon. Watch for it!

More good news … the draft master plan for bicycles and pedestrians in Mansfield has been newly revised/updated and should be out for public review and comment in the next few weeks. Will provide a link soon.

more doin's: 5) Did you know that UConn has been working on becoming more bicycle friendly? It not only submitted a Bicycle Friendly University (BFU) application this summer, but is just finishing up a complete study/plan for active transportation on the campus!

more doin's: 4) We've been working with the staff of the new Mansfield Elementary School to set up a formal bicycle education program for all the Town's 4th graders. Because the school won't be open until this spring, the program should start in the fall of 2023.

more doin's: 3) We'll have a table at the Town Festival on the 24th. Stop in to take our quiz identifying 10 parts on a bike and enter the drawing for a gift certificate to the local bike shop. This year "Watch For Me CT" will be sharing our booth. Watch for them!

more doin's: 2) We updated the draft of the pedestrian and bicycle master plan for the Town and it should be out for public review and input in the next few weeks. The plan is titled (and is about) "Connections" for ped and bike access to local destinations.

Big doin's these days. 1) The Town's Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC) renewal application is due this September 29th, and we've been working with the Town on the 84 page application for a couple of months now. A final 2 week push to get it done starts now.

Bike Mansfield meets on the 1st or 2nd Thurs of the month at 7PM in the lobby of the Nash-Zimmer Transpo Ctr in downtown Storrs. We plan our bicycle advocacy activities at these meetings, and they generally take less than 1 hour! Email us at [email protected]
