A group of Vancouver USA residents and bike riders that believe in the community and its potential to grow into a healthier and more liveable community.
Let's talk about INDUCED DEMAND
🚗 "If it were EASIER TO DRIVE CARS in this town, more people would make car trips."
🚗 "Yes, obviously."
🚲 "If it were EASIER TO RIDE BIKES in this town, more people would make bike trips."
🚲 "No, that's stupid."
Never forget, a 13-year study found that protected bike-lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for all road users.
ALL ROAD USERS.
And painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all. For sharrows, it’s safer to NOT have them.

Half of business owners on this #Toronto street estimated that more than 25% of their customers arrived by car. In fact, it was 4%. And the % for those who walked or cycled? 72%.

Paris definitely wasn’t always this way. This is very recent. It wasn’t magic. It just took a clear vision, and real leadership. Your city could choose leadership too.

The saddest thing we saw today on our beautiful unseasonably spring Sunday #VanWa bike ride was witness very excited children run towards the playground #EstherShortPark only to discover with sad shock it’s shut down because of vandalism.
This reminds us to check in on where Clark County, WA is with their great plan to build a 33 mile parallel path alongside The Chelatchie Prairie Rail line https://t.co/3d5VlGjOpQ
A friendly reminder to planners, transportation engineers, and municipal politicians: “rails with trails” are better than rails to trails. The USDOT even has a 112-page best practices guide on how to implement them. Read it! https://t.co/Oj1kBaGTfA

Amazing turnout for this year’s bike the lights @portlandraceway I know the unseasonably warm (and rain free) weather helped but we hope this draw continues. Nice to see members of @BikeClarkCounty doing leisurely laps.
The Interstate 5 Bridge Replacement program community survey centered around its preliminary design options is live. Those that bicycle and walk to get around in the NW #Portland and SW Washington region please take this survey. https://t.co/pC40R1gncp
@hitthespotburgr we already miss you so much and you didn’t even open here in #Vanwa. Sniff, sniff that the Uptown Village space didn’t work out. Our fingers are crossed that this isn’t the end of your hopeful presence in #VancouverWA
In the first six months of 2021, an estimated 20,160 people died in traffic crashes in the U.S., that’s the highest number of deaths for that six-month period since 2006. https://t.co/taeVpsk2bJ
Not feeling too optimistic with @IbrProgram preliminary I5 bridge designs for bike and ped crossing. There are good things, separated from traffic. Still is half baked. Should be more than just a way to get from point A to B but a way to experience the river vistas on both sides.
Adé Hogue, a popular Chicago bicyclist and graphic designer, died Friday after a driver hit him while he was riding his bike Downtown. He's being mourned by thousands, and people are fundraising for his family. https://t.co/LGch85Lj6K
