We just learned yesterday from his stepdaughter that Al Remmers died last year. The founder of California Pacific, he was one of the first real publishers and distributors in the computer game industry and jumpstarted the careers of both @BillB and @RichardGarriott.

In the end, we had an unhappy split. I decided I could do the publishing part and started my own company, BudgeCo. He took the news badly ("Bill, I don't know you. You're a chameleon.")
