The M25 crosses the River Mole three times and every tributary flows under a major road, most under the M23. Toxic runoff from roads is flushed into rivers with inadequate pollution controls causing a rush of heavy metals and hydrocarbons from tyre wear killing our rivers.

@BC_Surrey back out in the field today at Denbies. De-scrubbing a sheltered, south facing bank where the Horseshoe Vetch was being shaded out. Let's hope butterflies appreciate in 2022.

Great to be back working in the field today with @BC_Surrey Small Blue Conservation Group. After the hiatus of almost a year, have missed the banter and chat. At Denbies Hillside clearing a scallop which is a classic butterfly hotspot.

@AndCarbon @MikeSlater5 @BC_Surrey Yes, agree with Mike's comments. Would add that buddleia left unchecked will destroy areas of chalk grassland - one of our most rich and biodiverse habitats. So good to see the delicate plants come through afterwards.

End of day @BC_Surrey Small Blue Project workparty at Netley Plantation. In 2017 these old chalk workings were a sea of buddleia. But have now been colonized by the Small Blue. Some good news in 2020.

@BC_Surrey Blue Project group working yesterday at Netley Plantation. In 2017 these chalk workings on the North Downs were a jungle of buddleia. Now good for Grizzled Skipper and Small Blue colonized in 2020.

@MHPNatureGroup @MordenHallPkNT @SNCVvolunteers @BC_Surrey I found WLH in June at MHP and emailed Phillip Bryan to this effect. We also know BH is present as eggs were found at the site last winter.
