@maybedanielleee I can attest that is not the case. Convoy Platform has the best fraud technology in the market with the highest quality small carriers in the market, and I'm happy to walk you through our capabilities. I'll be at MATS, let's connect.
Hey @freightalley, thanks for the feedback. We are making a small adjustment to make it even clearer that Section 2 (the referenced section) of the Product and Delivery Schedule only applies to brokers using the Convoy Platform. Thanks again for pointing out that some people may have misunderstood the Schedule – we’re very excited about our recently signed FreightWaves-DAT affiliate partnership. We’re excited to continue serving carriers
On this lovely Friday morning in Ohio I decided to do the most terrifying thing an analyst can do: publish 52-week technical forecast during a major market disruption.
Ratecast by @datfreightteam is truly the best long-term forecasting engine in the space. It did remarkably well during 2025, but to be fair there wasn't much happening.
Here's what the model is thinking for dry van spot rates for the balance of 2026. Again, this is an unaltered technical forecast so treat it as such.
No you see a karaoke machine company said they vibe coded freight forwarding and that caused $CHRW to crater which caused degrossing across all industrials that then spilled over into everything else & caused retail to panic sell and that’s how we got the Great Depression of 2028
So let me get this right, CNBC's thesis is that a company pivoted from in cab Karaoke (Algo-"rythm", get it?) to AI Dispatching and thereby CHRW lost $6B in market value?

Broker gross margin update for December 2025
GM per Load: $189.47 (-$.32.81 MoM)
GM Percent: 9.91% (+221bps MoM)
Length of Haul: 710 (Unchanged MoM)
Sample size: 933k loads from 446 companies
I want to caveat this by saying that I'm a certified non-alarmist. That aside, this data is crazy and my channel checks have verified that brokers are seeing this in reality.
What's wild about this data? For starters, gross margins under 10% are concerning and very rare at an industry level. Generally when we see GM % this low, it's because rates are high and the GM per load is up. Compare December of 2021 as example where GM % was ~11% but GM per load was over $250.
Not only are we underperforming those margin levels, but brokers are also netting nearly 25% less gross profit per load than other high-rate environments.
The tl;dr here is that a combination of seasonality, weather, and constrained capacity seems to have put brokers who are balanced towards contract in a bind.
p.s. If you drill into reefer margin data, it's even more bananas. But that's a story for a different time.
I joined Nate and Ben on @Freight_360 to discuss DAT's Convoy Acquisition.

They are complementary products. Convoy Platform is ideal for loads that can be fully automated, and carriers love it because they can manage the full load execution through the platform. The DAT marketplace still has more loads, more carriers, more of everything, but it requires more manual engagement per load. We expect brokers carriers to dial they're processes in to use as complementary tools.
Read my views on DAT's acquisition of Convoy Platform. TLDR: We're here to lead the future of freight tech, and it's going to be awesome.

@TimothyDooner Bay Area and Seattle tied. Seattle most beautiful and great QoL, Bay area, even better QoL (surfing, biking, hiking, wine, car culture, startup ecosystem, etc) but outrageous cost.
@FreightAlley Well this made my day. Thank you Craig. Jeff's built an amazing team here, and this is a new DAT. Every conversation I've had with this team just makes me more excited for what's to come.
Big news we announced yesterday: Flexport has sold the Convoy Platform to @datfreightteam. This is a massive win—for Flexport, DAT, the Convoy team, and the freight industry. 🧵
