So Joe gave money to Ukraine. That's Fact. Ukraine invested lots of that money in FTX. That's a Fact. The owner of FTX was major donor to Dems in midterms. That's a Fact. Is that money laundering?
83 years ago today, a 173-foot wooden subchaser with a 21-year-old engineer and a crew of green reservists picked a fight with a 252-foot Type IXC U-boat off the coast of Virginia.
The U-boat lost. In ten minutes.
By the spring of 1943, the Battle of the Atlantic was the most important fight of the entire Second World War. If Germany's U-boats could cut the supply lines from America to Britain, the war was over. By March 1943 they had nearly succeeded. 120 Allied ships were sunk that month alone. Winston Churchill later wrote that the U-boats were the only thing in the war that ever really frightened him.
The Allied response was the convoy system, but convoys needed escorts. There were never enough proper destroyers. So the US Navy built hundreds of cheap, fast, small subchasers called the PC-461 class. 173 feet of wood and steel. A single 3-inch gun, some 20mm cannons, and racks of depth charges. They were so small the crews called them "donald ducks." They rolled so badly in heavy seas that men were sometimes flung overboard from below decks.
USS PC-565 was one of them, under the command of Lieutenant Walter T. Flynn. On June 2, 1943, she was escorting Convoy NG-355 from New York to Cuba about 200 miles east of Norfolk.
About 60 miles to the north, Korvettenkapitän Klaus Bargsten was hunting in U-521. Bargsten was a serious U-boat ace. He had served on U-99 with Otto Kretschmer, the highest-scoring U-boat commander of the entire war. He had survived the sinking of U-99 in March 1941, spent months as a British POW, escaped, made his way back to Germany, and was given his own boat. He had already sunk three Allied freighters totaling 14,000 tons.
At 11:00 AM on June 2, U-521 surfaced briefly to charge her batteries. Bargsten saw smoke on the horizon. Convoy. He submerged to periscope depth to set up an attack.
PC-565's sonar picked him up.
What happened next was textbook. Flynn turned hard toward the contact, accelerated to full speed, and laid a perfect pattern of 11 depth charges. The first explosions rolled U-521 onto her side and shattered her pressure hull. Bargsten gave the order to surface and scuttle. The U-boat blew her ballast tanks and came up in a swirl of foam.
The conning tower hatch opened. Bargsten was the first man out. He looked back into his own boat and saw water pouring through the open hatches below. The rest of his crew were already trapped.
He jumped into the sea. Behind him, U-521 stood vertical for a moment, bow pointing at the sky, and then slid backwards into 1,800 feet of water. 51 men went down with her.
Bargsten was the only survivor. PC-565 pulled him out of the water 20 minutes later. He sat on her deck shivering in a wool blanket, watching oil and debris come up from below.
For the rest of the war, the Allies improved their tactics, their radar, their codebreaking. By May 1943, the Atlantic had turned. By 1944 it was a U-boat graveyard. 30,000 of 40,000 German submariners died in the war. The casualty rate was 75 percent. It is the highest of any combat arm of any military force in modern history.
Bargsten lived to 89. He died in 2000 in a small German village, the only man who ever survived the death of U-521.
Steve Hilton is buried behind multiple groups of names you have to scroll through to vote for in the California Primary Election
Democrats put pages of random names no one is going to vote for in front of Steve Hiltons’ name to select for Governor
The official reason for this is ‘The Secretary of State conducts a randomized alphabet drawing to determine the order of candidates for each race’
Sure…. We totally believe that Steve just happened to be thrown at the bottom….
I can't believe anybody would be stupid enough to assault you in DC. I am glad you're ok @RepLuna and I do hope that you have the perp arrested and charged.
This is unacceptable behavior. But not surprisingly coming from a violent democrat.
California ignored detainer - three generations are gone from a knife in the hands of this illegal alien.
Joaquin Escoto Vasquez was arrested for DUI in 2025. His ICE detainer was ignored.
He was released.
Now, he is alleged to have murdered grandma, her daughter, & baby 🤬
The older I get, the more I realize how precious each moment really is. Life moves quickly, friend, and the memories that matter most are the ones filled with love, kindness, and the people we hold close to our hearts.
So don't miss the chance to tell someone you love them today. Those are the moments that last forever.

Could you please donate to my campaign to unseat Maggie Goodlander who was endorsed last cycle by @GIFFORDS_org?
I am a lifetime member of @GunOwners and my first testimony as a new US citizen was against gun control laws in Colorado 2013.

Veterans waiting on a prosthetic limb aren’t waiting on a piece of equipment, they’re waiting to get back to living their lives. That’s why we’re reducing red tape and getting Veterans the prosthetics they need faster.
