@Molson_Hart You're missing the fact that earlier tiers also did the things we now think are bad: taking the land, slavery, some wars, etc.
You can't gain points by pointing to ancestry without losing points by the same logic. Truth is, everyone's ancestor was flawed, some more evil.
JUST A REMINDER
The One Big Bullshit Bill tax "breaks" for ordinary citizen tax payers ends on December 31, 2028 — a few weeks before @realDonaldTrump leaves office.
This means...
• the individual income-tax going from 39.6% to 37%
• your deduction for qualified tip income
• your deduction for qualified OT compensation
• the additional $6,000 deduction for seniors 65+
• the deduction for passenger vehicle loan interest
• the one-time federal $1,000 contribution to "Trump Accounts" child savings accounts
.... IT ALL ENDS in December 2028.
But you know what doesn't end on December 31, 2028?
• The corporate tax rate went from a top rate of 35% down to a flat rate of 21%
**THIS IS NOW PERMANENT**
• The 100% bonus depreciation:
Businesses can IMMEDIATELY deduct 100% of the cost of new (and some used) qualified property — such as machinery, equipment, computers, furniture, and certain software — in the year it is placed in service, instead of depreciating it over several years.
**THIS IS NOW PERMANENT**
• Full expensing of domestic research and experimental (R&D) expenditures:
Companies can now IMMEDIATELY deduct the FULL COST of domestic research and experimental expenditures in the year they are incurred.
This relates to company spending when developing new products, processes, formulas, inventions, techniques, softwares, etc.
**THIS IS NOW PERMANENT**
• Companies can deduct a greater amount (30%) of their interest expenses.
This larger deduction LOWERS their taxable income more, which means they pay LESS taxes — in other words, they effectively keep/get back more money through the tax savings.
**THIS IS NOW PERMANENT**

So at the end of December 2028, the average Americans tax rate will stay ALMOST 40%, and our measly little tax breaks will no longer exist.
MEANWHILE
Corporations get to KEEP their lower flat tax rate of 21% - they'll get to KEEP 100% write off's - they'll get to KEEP their 30% interest expense limitations.
AMERICAN CITIZENS GOT ROYALLY SCREWED BY @realDonaldTrump AND THE @GOP@HouseGOP@SenateGOP@Republicans
Seeing headlines on a report about men leaving the workforce and a graph showing the declining percentage in the workforce. Wouldn't it be equally to say that women's share of the workforce is increasing as more and more get paid for labor?
@PP69153735@awstar11 Vance has the inside track. But the record of VPs winning the presidency isn't good. Nixon, Humphrey, Gore, Harris all failed in my memory. Only Bush succeeded.
@PhilWMagness IIRC at the time of Baker v Carr Georgia had a senate district 1/60 th the size of the most populated one. Rural voters had much more power in the senate, just as rural areas have much more power in the US Senate today.
@jean_twenge@WSJ No surprise. Lots of demand because boomers were a big increase over the Silents (likely the biggest jump ever in percentage terms, I'm guessing)
@MTMehan@JamesAGagliano Herbert Hoover, Theodore Roosevelt are two counter examples. jimmy Carter picked his spots and drove his successors up the wall
@JimVandeHei@JakeSherman@washingtonpost@DylanByers@maxwelltani@BenMullin Enough with multiple reporters on one story. I want to know and recognize inviduals. Tell me three names and I remember none of them. There's a new Milbank article? There's a Sally Quinn? Those get me reading. And there's nothing wrong with short--at my age I do TL:DR often
@page_eco Trust is not binary, IMHO. It's a curve. Europeans would trust a Mike Pence or Michelle Obama more than a JD Vance, but it will be a long time before their trust is restored to 20th century levels.
@TraceyRyniec@BeschlossDC Have to quibble. JFK pushed it but it only was named for him after his assassination. We don't name things for living presidents, at least not until Republicans started honoring Reagan.
