Engineer-type guy, bit nerdy, but I work well with people. I'm good at communicating technical info. I like automating processes to remove the boring bits.
Open Letter to @midjourney (and all other AI Video and Image Generators)
To Whom It May Concern:
The restriction of political commentary, specifically the ability to create cartoonish paintings depicting political figures as clowns in the current Trump vs. Biden election cycle, imposed by the Midjourney AI Image Generator, raises significant concerns about freedom of expression and artistic license. In a democratic society, the power of political satire and commentary through art is not only a cherished tradition but also a vital tool for public discourse and critique. The depiction of politicians as clowns, while potentially controversial, is a legitimate form of artistic expression that enables artists and commentators to engage with political themes in a humorous, thought-provoking manner. By censoring such expressions, Midjourney AI not only stifles creativity but also hinders the essential dialogue and reflection that are fundamental to a healthy political environment. Artistic representations, especially in a cartoonish style, have historically played a crucial role in shaping public opinion and fostering debate, making such restrictions not only a disservice to artists but also to the public, who are deprived of a critical lens through which to view and assess their political leaders and their actions.
Sincerely,
Talon MacTavish

@TalonMacUTC@midjourney I agree completely. In Australia, cartoons of our politicians are common, and usually hilarious. Another concern this raises is, if they are censoring this, what else could they censor, at their whim?

When you're in the middle of doing something, you often don't/can't see the progress you're making, or the impact it's having on you. It's not until you finish and take time to think about it, that you realise how good it has been. Goodbye Write 4/28, it's been awesome!
Well, no more, time to chill out a bit, and be more zen, as I mentioned recently.
What about you? Minor things irritating you? Try taking a step back and looking at the bigger picture. Is it really worth letting yourself get irritated? You'll feel better if you let it go.
Ouch, ow, paper cut! It stings, it's annoying, why did it have to happen?
At least, that's what I first thought. Then I thought, geez, get over yourself, Bill, it's a minuscule cut that you'll forget about in 10 mins.
And that got me thinking . . . .
I realised that, recently, I have been letting myself get irritated by minor things:
- it's hard to open a zip-lock bag
- the car in front of me is going a little too slowly for my liking
- the left/elevator is taking too long to arrive
I've had some success with positive thinking over the past few months. I think I've changed for the good. Now I've decided to look for beauty every day, like the butterfly that "helped" me mow the lawn today. 😀 Look for beauty everywhere.
Local business networking group. We were asked "does anyone have a business problem they'd like to share?". I summoned my courage and spoke up. 10mins later I had a list of ideas to help me. Surround yourself with good people and don't be afraid to ask for help.
