@anasalhajji@HayekAndKeynes Same true for all commodities China claims 'prices are too high' and will use reserves to avoid current 'too high' market prices. May work temporarily but if demand outpaces supply trend in prices will be up! SPRs not long-term price control mechanisms - not their purpose!
@anasalhajji@HayekAndKeynes Also depends on the purpose of China's SPR . Yes govt would *temporarily* net $4 billion - but if SPR needs to replenish 100 mmbl it will likely do so at prices much higher than Apr-May 2020. Playing seasonality and using SPR to suppress prices not a long-term solution.
@edhollett $500M subsidy which seemingly completely de-risked project *and* Terra Nova operators had the public convinced a govnt equity stake was also required to save project - until it wasn't. Public sector too big/expensive but no problem subsidizing some of the richest workers in NL.
@edhollett@CraigScottNL Neither does forcing/incentivizing companies to build things here they don't want to build here (Long Harbour) or subsidizing companies in any way to have operations here that would not be here otherwise (Canopy, CBPPL, Terra Nova). It never works.
@garquake Just $43 million net debt and $15 million net debt by Dec 2021 at $63 WTI. Debt-free and high FCF yield a very attractive combination for shareholders. $GXE.to
@garquake Q1E FFO per share $0.84 seems too low. May not get all the way there but Street estimate of $0.96 seems more likely IMO. Production down from Q1 2020 but price increases should more than offset. Canadian O&G selloff over past 2 weeks seems like a gift. $vet.to
@Larry_Short And that's *still* not enough to balance NL budget. Here's an idea let's ask 'Mr. Rainbows & Unicorns' a.k.a. @Jim_M_Keating what NLs return on its oil investments has *actually* been. Inflated ROI projections when money required & no follow-up. Genuinely interested.
@EdwardLRiche@bobhallett @DeanBavington @ianfroude Mile One more than hockey. Curling, basketball, trade shows, concerts, performances, Seniors roller/ice skating. Also a public good. Necessary cornerstone of downtown of any major city for a lot of (mostly) economic reasons. Not everyone goes to Mile One? Same true for parks.
@PeteSoucy@BairdTom 'Them' was one person and he likely has just as much influence with Liberals as he does with PCs - all about party of convenience - that's NL politics and that's why we are in the mess we are in.
@BairdTom Request likely too specific - doubt anything sent directly to DMG as you requested only material sent to her and only her. I had a similar issue with a request in the past. Broaden request 'compiled for, presented to, and/or transmitted to PERT' for example.
@davidzelcer@CMOH_NL Exactly. Why the Liberal attack against POE testing. It makes sense and other provinces do it. Have Liberals politicized POE testing and now feel CMOH cannot implement b/c Crosbie has suggested. Is *that* what's going on? An awfully strong coordinated response against tonight.
@davidzelcer@CMOH_NL Maybe POE and waste water testing would have discovered current variant outbreak sooner? Why aren't we doing either when other provinces are? All valid questions that deserves explanation *especially* since CMOH is now looking at waste water testing.
@davidzelcer@kevinjguest If you showed up at a polling station at 645 and polls closed at 700 you would get to vote - online should be no different. It's clearly not.
@JenEWright @PeterCBC Provincial govnt HR policies through this pandemic have been dismal at best and have likely violated employees Human Rights. Fighting for basic rights and accomodation. Why is this the case from an employer who should be setting the example for the rest of the province? #nlpoli
