@Djack021@1053SS Tyler Smith was in my list. He hasn’t been the same stud this year, especially last night. But even if we count him as a stud, that’s still 3/4 of the last picks aren’t great. And Micah was a lucky accident. They didn’t draft him to be a pass rusher.
@Djack021@1053SS So we can go draft a Mazi to play 10 snaps a night when he’s not a healthy scratch, or another Tyler to get beat by 4 man rush on an average D?!
@1053SS D is all time bad. But my biggest disappointment is what three 1st round picks on the O line is doing for us. It gives me pause for what we can even do by keeping our picks. Our last five 1st round picks are either a) not on the time, b) healthy scratch, or c) got beat all night!
@rjchoppy I think when it’s that visible and blatant, you have to make an example. Otherwise it makes the league look trashy or they don’t have control. Not about the individual penalty like it is for most. It’s about setting a standard.
@just_cameron Lol, I realize. I’m saying we use r2 as goodness of fit in exercises mostly about testing B≠0 for some X, typically with diffuse priors— a framework offering limited economic insights. So, arguing R2 is like arguing for a better radar gun to measure the speed of a parked car.
@cjwich Be upfront about the concerns. Let the process play out. If you still feel your concerns were mostly right, ignored, and sufficient for rejecting, write the follow up paper. But only after the paper under review has its chance to address your concerns and go through the process.
@JoshGoodman_BU If it’s a good paper, it’ll find its day somewhere. But it is “peer” review, after all. If the author doesn’t ever review, then they are not acting as a “true” peer to other authors at that journal. They should send to a journal they feel publish “worthy” peers (null set?)
@KhoaVuUmn Always wondered, what meaningful economic variables at a similar level of granularity as the Ys/Xs we care about are actually fixed? I’m sure cases exist. But certainly not commensurately with the number of studies that use FE.
@just_cameron @daguilarcanabal You never know. Leadership could change and you could ignite changes from within. But if the job itself is interesting and builds your human capital, then you go somewhere bigger and better in a few years to make a bolder statement! Maybe even start a competing platform, Y!
@just_cameron@oxinabox_frames lol, publically lambasting management on the very platform for which you (vaguely) seek a job interview may not be interview 101 advice! 😂😂😂
